AA Introduces 777 Service To SCL

Wed Jan 16, 2002 9:51 am

Hi:

American Airlines has improved their operations to Santiago, Chile changed the 767-300ER by a Boeing 777-200ER. This change is for the Dallas Ft. Worth- Santiago -Dallas Ft. Worth route. Miami service still operating by a 767-300ER.

Great news! A little surprised that DFW-SCL is going 777 before MIA-SCL, but DFW-SCL has no compietition, so it makes sense. SCL will now join EZE, GRU, and GIG with AA's Latin Americna 777 service. On another note, MVD will get 777 service this summer.

Go AA!

Glad to see them upgrading service in those key markets.

I am a furloughed AA F/A -- from class 2001-21. I keep hearing great things for American - they are a strong airline and were very well poised for the tragic blows they were dealt. I am proud and honored to work for such a strong airline.

I think we owe leaders like Don Carty, Al Casey, and Bob Crandall a great thanks for making American so solid.

I can't wait to be back in the air!

I knew the load factors for DFW-SCL-DFW were high, but I didn't know that they were high enough to require a 777.
As a big 767 fan, I sort of wish that American went double daily 767 rather than single daily 777. Either way, it's good to hear American is making money  Smile

Keep in mind, I see AA 777s a lot in person, so this is from my standpoint.

AA@DFW- I'm sorry you were furloughed, hopefully you are back in the skies asap.

Still a poor substitute for the MD-11 (from a passenger standpoint). I am glad I don't live in south america any more because there would be no way for me to get back to texas without getting on a dreaded 777! But that would be the least of my problems if I still lived in Buenos Aires.

HI:

Yes exist a high demand on SCL-DFW route because a lot of passenger take the flight to continue to the others destination in the west coast, specially to LAX, SFO, and DEN.

Miami route still with 763ER service I think because Lan Chile operates the route with A340-300 and exist a great offer from different airlines to this point, in the chilean case is very important Aero Continente flight with extremely low fare to MIA, and the offer of COPA, Grupo TACA, Avianca, Aerolineas Argentinas, for example.

Best Regards from Santiago,

RJ, yeah, that makes sense. Plus, on Saturdays, there are EIGHT direct flights between Miami and Santiago de Chile. AA also does double-daily on MIA-SCL during the Chilean summer. They are not doing it this year (9/11), but I promise you, it will be back next year.

Mah4546:

During this summer only Lan Chile serves with two daily flights the MIA route.

RJ, AA always has double-daily service to Santiago from Miami during the Chilean summer/Miami winter. It was supposed to run this year (02Dec01 through 29Apr02), but it will not.
