I wanna poll opinions on a few details concerning pax rights and airlines' accountability or responsibility.
Please opine on the following scenarios:
1. Given an on-time departure should an airline be held responsible for a passenger who has missed his/her connecting flight (or some other engagement) due to an unusually long flight time or ATC delays (or any other "Acts of God") that result in late arrivals?
2. Pax has flights from point A to point D via point B. Originating carrier delays pax at point A (arrives late at point B), therefore pax misses flight to point D. Pax seeks no assistance from originating carrier but instead agrees with subsequent carrier to take a different flight to point C where pax will either resolve misconnetion of flight to point D with carriers or make his/her own way. Who is responsible? The originating carrier or the subsequent carrier? Or the pax? Should it make any difference that the original carrier was delayed by an Act of god or not?
3. In your opinion, is it fair for airlines to impose the limited liability rule for improperly packed luggage or luggage containing contents of high value?
4. Is it fair that the pax is ultimately responsible for confirming all details of his/her itinerary and familiarizing with all conditions of carriage so long as carrier makes such information readily available and accessible?
5. Take scenario number 1, but instead the delay is due to factors within the carrier's control. Pax would have missed connecting flight but connecting flight was cancelled for whatever reason. Who is responsible?
