Aero-Delta-flot

Tue Jan 22, 2002 3:35 pm

What do you think about the new color scheme adopted by Delta? Doesn't it look like the colors of the russian flag? When I saw it first, I thought that Aeroflot should buy this desgin from Delta, and replace their (and excuse me for the insult)tasteless colors. All they have to do is to flip it around  Smile .

What does the delta flag represent? What is the flag and why did they choose it?

Actually they have said why... but i didn't understand a word!! Big grin
They say-as i recall, that it represents the new era in aviation industry... reflecting link with their custormers. But so far, I have no idea why have they chosen such colors!

Anyways, it's really beautiful.

I think this livery looks asthough a giant plastic bag was on the runway and got caught on that tail. Still, a nice colour scheme.

Wow.. what an imagination you have? Seems to me it took you more time than what DL's officials needed to design this...  Smile I really liked your metaphor.

The Russian flag from top to bottom is white, blue, and red while the Delta tail from top to bottom is red, navy blue and light blue. Both have nothing to do with each other. I don't understand why you people keep bringing the subject up? It's absurd... Do you hope to achieve something? Is Delta going to change it's corporative colors because you guys have a visual problem with it? Just let it go...

Delta's colors are very modern. Perfect to state the fact that we're now in the 21st century. Much much better than the very conservative colors Delta used to have or the stealthy U.S. military colors of United and American's boring outdated silver fleet. No pun intended... United and American are great airlines. Just that Delta's colors represent a bit more creativity ...as if the red, navy blue and light blue are soft satin/silky sheets flowing thru the air.

From Landor.com- http://www.landor.com/portfolio/index.cfm?action=showCase&caseid=393

Background

Although Landor worked to modernize Delta's visual identity in the mid-90's, Delta needed to go even further to differentiate itself in the cluttered airline brandscape. This meant developing a striking new identity system signaling a world-class carrier that would be instantly recognizable in the over 250 cities and 32 countries that Delta serves. Furthermore, the new identity needed to convey a passenger-centric focus in an era of increasing customer dissatisfaction within the industry.

Landor's Solution: What We Did

The new Delta brand is a dramatic departure from its past. The words "Air Lines" have been removed from the logotype, reflecting an assumptive pride in its brand heritage and leadership role. The triangular heritage mark was softened, symbolizing a more human approach. Landor developed a new "flowing fabric" branding program, featuring a colorful, vibrant tail contrasted against a clean, white fuselage. This striking element is featured throughout the passenger experience, from airport environments to print collateral, making a distinctive and welcoming impression in the minds of Delta's customers.

Don't you think that the silver belly is a little bit not suitable for this scheme? I mean they should've rather painted the bottom in white.

The silver adds some needed flavor to the fuselage.

Tasteless? Why is Aeroflot's colourscheme tasteless please explain Smile/happy/getting dizzy?
I have always thought of this scheme as magnificent and has an appropriate mysterious soviet air to it.

Sure the SU 777s cabin might be disgusting but Aeroflot surely know how to make the exterior of their planes look just superb also remember the A310 scheme of the early 90s and the TU-114 scheme of the late 50s!

All these schemes are truly original and cant be called a copy no one else has a scheme anything like these and SU's n/c must be inspirational...why do they call DL's newest colours Deltaflot?
WELL DONE AEROFLOT!

Hi braniff...
actually I donno why shouldn't i call it 'tasteless'? Although original, but all SU's colorscheme are not creative.

And what about the old Tu's? there's nothing but a flag on the tail! At last they invented something better than designing military-looking civil schemes. I think this reflects their mood (no offence of coure  Smile )

And, btw, Deltaflot is very beautiful... i like it.

Yes true schemes from russia and even china seem all to be the same and look rather servere or military inspired including their names being all the same: China Xinjiang, China Southern, China Southwest, China Eastern, China Airlines, Air China etc...

Iam one who appreciates new ideas and as shown by my username i also really love colour and "retro" concepts like the cheatline and polished/metallic underbodies on aircraft. And yes the Deltaflot scheme icorporates these things a modern design with a nice old fashioned polished underbidy! I really like it too, it reminds me of the old ansett scheme (colourful tail, nice clean looking body and stylish simplifed typeface)

Yes, i would like you to draw some "unique" livery for Air France from your imagination... Let it be similar to the nice Deltaflot  Big grin
