Hmm...based soely on route structure skyTeam is much better across the Atlantic, but, overall, I think oneWorld wins in coverage. They are not as strong across the Atlantic, but have a better intra-Europe schedule, IMO. Plus SkyTeam does not come close to oneWorld in Latin America and Oceania. OneWorld also has slighly better coverage to Asia. SkyTeam is better to Africa, though, despite BA's extensive African network. Both lack one thing Star does, however, when it comes to route structure, and that is true alliance hubs where everyone comes together in one place. Star is building one at MIA, and that is just the first of many to come. Alliance hubs (and I am not talking about alliance hubs were DL is in terminal H and AF is in terminal C) are going to be important to making alliances run for efficiently, and I hope Sky and One follow up with Star's model (Sky technically does have all thier ATL operations under one roof though; and is merging all thier MIA operations, but MIA is not a hub).

How can Skyteam be better across the Atlantic when BA flies to more US destinations than any other airline?

SkyTeam is LARGER (note: not necessacarily better, that's an opinion) across the Atlantic. Delta is the largest North Atlantic airline in the world, and Air France and Alitalia each have formidable transatlantic presence, as well as Aeromexico and CSA chipping in a tiny bit. For OneWorld, it is BA, with AA not being that large across the North Atlantic (I think 1/2 of their T/As are to LHR), and Iberia, Finnair, and Aer Lingus chipping in a little.

Skyteam has the ghetto leftovers of the alliance world... AF has horrible service from my and many others' experiences. BA is much better there... Don't get me started on CSA...Korean...and definately not Aeromexico. I don't know about Alitalia so I can't say. DL is the only saviour  Big grin Thank God SQ is still a skymiles partner for the time being... Flame on...

I disagree with you, Qualiflyer gets the leftovers. Too bad LOT is in it, but they are changing to STAR or Oneworld soon, anyways, Qualifyer is so bad im not even gonna talk about it. A bunch of bankrupt airlines.........DAT (Sabena), Crossair (Swissair) jeeeeeee

On Frequent Flyer Programs, SkyTeam beats OneWorld. I'm an AeroMexico Club Premier member and Delta Skymiles member, and everytime I get a ticket on those carriers I get miles (including discounted economy)

On the other hand, once I had to book Virgin Atlantic instead of British Airways because they didn´t want to credit my Advantage account for a trasatlantic flight. Iberia didn´t want to credit my Advantage account for a MEX-MAD flight, because I was traveling on discounted economy. So OneWorld frequent flyer programs just suck. I better take a non OneWorld carrier to Europe, they at least give me the miles I use for domestic free travel (flying domestic in Mexico is quite expensive).

In my opinion Skyteam is better than Oneworld for routes structure, frequent flyer programs and European and US hubs. They lack in South-east Asia and Australia.
Oneworld has some airlines like BA, QF and CX that use to have a better service.
