JFK Spotting?

My friend and I are planning a trip from Maine to New York just to go to JFK, does anyone have any tips for us? especially places to view planes and such? also whats security like there? anything would help us to prepare us also is their a train or subway or bus that can take us from say grand central station to the airport? thanks a lot -Josh

If you have a car then go to the Custom building's parking lot, otherwise your not going to have such great views because you can't get beyond the screeners without a ticket since 9-11.

My best advice is to fly into JFK from Boston , that way you can linger inside the Terminal's concourses where the views are.

The Airtrain hasn't opened yet so no direct rail service to JFK, that comes next year. Right now you either have to take the 'A' Subway to Howard beach and connect to the Port Authority shuttle bus or take the LIRR to Jamaica and take a bus.

My advice, (again) fly into JFK if you can.

I would be surprised if you could get within 500 feet of the airport.
