Richard Branson has expressed that his airline has no interest to join an alliance.

Virgin does code share with several major airlines, including Continental Airlines, Air India, and Malaysia Airlines. Virgin is also 49% owned by Singapore Airlines although no formal code share exists yet between SIA and VS.

Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic codeshare on flights to and from London and Singapore. SQ318 and VS7318 is an example.
Anyone can fly, only the best Soar.

Thats right to an extent.

One World would rather emit air France than take virgin along wqith it.

Star has alliances between lufthansa and UAL and also close relations between them and bmi(lufthansa owning 25%)

bmi do not want another british airline, transaltantic as well to join in ,neither to lufthansa and ual becaus it would upset their anti-trust immunity.bmi is expanding and considers itself as the main rival to BA.

AF and Delta are so far up eachs noses that they can see each others tonsils, they dont want an airline affecting their relationship, especially when british european are very chummy with AF.

virgin atlantic is different from virgin express is it not?

Besides richard branson is prefectly happy to moan about BA and lufthansa being in alliances due to competition, if he joins in star then hes shooting himself in the foot and will lead to a mass hissy fit from BA.

Hes better off having an alliance with easy jet, two anti-BA businessmen, both losing thier battles.

It is amazing what can be accomplised when nobody takes the credit
