Frequent Flyer With QF

Mon Jan 28, 2002 12:53 pm

This year I will be doing a couple of trips with QF.
MEL-LAX and MEL-BNE both returns.
My CO flight from LAX to NWR (that's the proper code for Newark?) will not be added.
Though is it worth while for me to get a FF card with QF with the 2 trips I plan to make, and maybe another one to SYD and back in November.

Qantas now has a one off joining fee on their frequent flyer program of $82.50. It used to be a yearly fee but they were forced to change when the old Ansett dropped the membership fee. QF also provides you with 1000 points for joining.
You can apply over the phone, on the Qantas website or by application form. Doing the trips that you are i would say it is very worthwhile as the points donot expire as long as you are an active member of the program. An active member is one that redeems or earns points from their account once every three years. That way you can use them whenever you want to basically.

There is a special way to get a "discount" on the QF Frequent Flyer application. It is for a limited time and costs $55. There is a catch though. (see your email for details)

By flying MEL to LAX you will be flying about 18,000 miles so this would give you close to 18,000 points, those points could be used for 3 upgrades on Mel-syd runs if seats were available, If you think 3 upgrades are more than $82.50 then I would recommend you buy it.

If think you would be mad not to spend the money.
Why fly non stop when you can connect
