Delta Spring/Summer 2002 Transatlantic Schedule

Mon Jan 28, 2002 7:32 pm

After much tinkering, I think Delta has finally settled on the following transatlantic schedule for the Spring/summer season:

From Atlanta:
DL 10 London LGW 763
DL 12 London LGW M11
DL 58 London LGW M11
DL 64 Manchester 777
DL 128/9 Dublin/Shannon 777
DL 22 Paris CDG 777
DL 28 Paris CDG 777
DL 38 Amsterdam M11
DL 66 Zurich M11
DL 124 Brussels M11
DL 14 Frankfurt 763
DL 20 Frankfurt 763
DL130 Munich 763
DL116 Stuttgart 763
DL 70 Rome 763
DL 74 Milan 763
DL108 Madrid 763
DL152 Barcelona 763

From New York JFK:
DL 16 Paris CDG M11 then 777 in April
DL118 Paris CDG 763
DL 82 Nice 763
DL148 Rome 763
DL 84 Milan 763
DL154 Venice 763
DL106 Frankfurt 763
DL126 Madrid 763
DL 94 Barcelona 763
DL 80 Amsterdam 763
DL140 Brussels 763
DL132 Athens 763
DL 72 Istanbul 763
DL 30 Moscow 763

From Cincinnati:

DL 36 London LGW M11
DL 44 Paris CDG 777
DL 48 Frankfurt 763

From Boston:

DL 60 London LGW 763

Looks like the 777s will only be seen in CDG, MAN, and DUB/SNN while LGW is all M11 and 763s only.
The M11s will also continue to be used on ATL-NRT and ATL-GRU-GIG.

A lot of LGW BOS midweeks are being cancelled through February and March. Considering that its the only secheduled LGW BOS service, im surprised that they cant fill it!

LGW CVG is performing REALLY well for DL, especially in Business Class. They have added an additional MD11 departure on Thursdays and Saturdays ex LGW.

LGW ATL schedules back to x3 daily for summer

There are no LGW JFK services any more either. Another gap DL could fill.

Good News For LGW

Mon Jan 28, 2002 9:44 pm

Nice to see those MD-11's still serving Gatwick. Hopefully those 777's will be absent for a long time yet.

I realise this is an opinionated post - but I really grew to love those Mad Dogs flying half way 'round the world!

From what I hear DL's BOS-LGW route isn't doing well, especially after 9/11.

I wouldn't be surprised if DL eventually suspends the route.

Any word on whether Delta plan to re-activate their JFK-DUB route which was axed after 9/11???

BOS-LGW has done poorly for DL since day 1. There's a lot of competition on this route and DL is a late-comer. If DL intends to build up BOS (as they have said), then they'll probably keep running BOS-LGW even though it is losing money. Eventually, if DL can add more feed to BOS and as the economy improves, the route might become profitable.

BestWestern, JFK-LGW on DL would be a miserable loss. Tons of competition from UA,AA,BA and CO and DL doesn't have access to LHR. Add to that, DL's feed into JFK is pretty poor and you have a recipe for red ink.

Agree that JFK-LGW would not be viable at all: already too much competition from JFK (and all into the preferred airport - LHR)...even BA could not make a go of it (and they supposedly had a hub at LGW) - JFK-LGW was the first route they pulled after 9/11...
As for JFK-DUB, no plans to bring it back in the immediate future (probably have to wait till at least Summer 2003)

I have taken flight 60/61 BOS-LGW four times total roundtrip, and twice post 9/11. The first two roudtrips were completely full. Post 9/11 there were 4 of us in BizElite, 64 pax total. The other time there were about 11 in BizElite. It is sad to see a plane so empty, it is such a great service for New England, especially because Delta has decent feed at BOS.

Can anyone tell me how the load factors on the DL 108 ATL-MAD is doing? I want to use a buddy pass sometime and I am interested in the load factors.

For a Madrid trip, this is going to depend on when you want to use the buddy pass. When do you want to go?
