Super Bowl Teams Arrive At MSY

Tue Jan 29, 2002 8:10 am

Both the Rams and Patriots have arrived at MSY. The Pats blew in around 2:45 on a Northwest DC-10 (N133JC).

The Rams arrived around 4 PM on an American 757 (N711ZX still in TWA colors). As they were taxiing the length of the airport to our west ramp, the pilots displayed two large Rams flags out of the cockpit.

With the Super Bowl this Sunday, and Mardi Gras in two weeks, we'll be getting a large number of charters, extra sections, and aircraft substitutions.

How come it takes a DC10 for the Pats but the Rams fit in a 757? Extra room for egos?

Where did NWA park the DC-10?
...where the rubber hits the runway...

Egos my ass. Just because they defeated the odds, doesn't mean the Pats have big egos. They are some of the most humble out there.

Now if you want to talk about the Rams having egos, well that would be a little more appropriate...coming back to the big show after winning it 2 years ago...knowing they are the favored team. I'm not saying they have big egos (they prolly do), but at least they know they are expected to win.

But the Pats will show up, don't worry.

the nwa dc-10 probably will do a few more charters and then be back maybe by sat. i doubt they would leave the plane just sitting for a week

You wont see many different charter planes in msy this year like the past. They are having less slots this year and most of the commericial carriers are taking those. Where I work we are going to try to use gulfport.

Sorry to be so long in responding to a couple of the above questions:

1) both aircraft were parked at the west ramp, by the old Transit Aviation Building

2) NW has 3 more DC-10 charters arriving on Thursday.

3) I also expect more of the corporate stuff to go to Lakefron Airport in N.O., possibly BTR and the gulf coast.

Also, we have a page on our http://www.flymsy.com website that will have a charter schedule on it.

Haha.

Pitts were the ones who, Monday after beating whoever they beat last week, were already making plans regarding New Orleans.

And the Pats have big egos? Riiiiight...
