Do You Use The Airport USOs?

Tue Jan 29, 2002 10:50 am

JUst curious if some of my fellow Uniformed Services members and retirees use the airport USOs. Any good or bad stories? While I don't travel commerical as much now I do try to support them when I can, especially going back home to Houston. I used to use them in college often since I travelled so much commercial.

The one at IAH is kind of small but the folks are nice and it is a cool place to relax, get some TV time, or free sodas etc. (It is in Term C behind the Wendy's around the corner hallway, there is a sign). The one at St Louis (and Atlanta) is nice and bigger than the One at IAH. I've also used a few others.

Well I hope you folks can spend some time there and support them if you get the chance.

I have never been in a USO in my life.

I am sure they offer assistance and a credible service for servicemembers in need of that sort of thing.

I haven't.

I've been to the SEA USO a few times, very nice. It's kind of difficult to find, you take the elevator (not sure which #) by the barber shop to the 2nd floor I think. It's a good place to get a glass of juice and grab an old paperback off of the rack and waste several hours. I've also been to the McChord USO, nice also. In my future travels I'll definitely visit them and support them.

I've been to the SFO, ATL, and SEA USO's. By far, the SEA USO was the best. They had bunk rooms, sandwiches, TV room, showers, and would even let you stay up to 24 hours (longer if you acquired permission).

Yep, SEA's is pretty nice. PW4084 is right though, it's definitely not too terribly easy to locate. I went in there a couple times during my time in the Navy at Whidbey Island.

Cheers!

It seems that at some airports they are well hidden. I've asked at some places (where I know they have them) and some airport employees don't know where they are.

I think they should advertise a little better, but I do like the services. I'll try and check Seattle's out sometime. Ciao.
