Thanks for that info.

I agree, it's really awful! Have a look at the livery - white and red, even the current Crossair livery is more stylish!
On their website, there is also an A321 - I thought they itended not to take over those A321  Confused

On some of the planes, there is "Schweiz", "Svira", "Svizzera" and even "Suisse" instead of "Swiss". I can't believe it, do they really want to write the name in five different languages?? Stupid!

My God!!! It's terrible, I can't believe they created something so horrible!

That's the worst "livery" ever presented! It is a fleet of ambulance-aircrafts!!!

Why not go for something different like "Edelweiss- Swiss Air Lines". But just swiss. What a bore! I could have done a better job!

Swiss Airways is much better! Why didn't they paint the whole tail red? It's Okay, but will look better with whole red tail.

Actually it is not too bad. Colours of the nation. Very simple and not a lot of money to be spend on repainting most of the fleet. Just hope that the good old Swissair service level is restored by this newcomer!

For the most part I say bravo, the branding overall has an excellent concept and execution. The incorporation of all four national languages and the identification and communication (in a slightly ironic visual format, the photos are great) of the core values of quality and efficiency are all good.

The planes themselves are rather stark, it would have been nice if they'd found a way to incorporate the light silver that graces the website.

I like the tails... and the minimalist fuselage is OK. HOWEVER, the engines look horrible with the blocks...

Overall, it is a strong identity though.

Not bad. A tad too white, though. And Swiss Air Lines is a great name, both maintaining continuity with old traditions and a signal for a new beginning. Kind of reminds me of Luft Hansa and Lufthansa.

I LOVE IT

Classy, new, yet does not sever the ties to the past.

"the minimalist fuselage"...has really NOTHING special...it has even nothing at all!

And the tail...it makes me just nervous. Really, I only see a fleet of air ambulances...bringing Swiss aid somewhere after a catastrophy.

They couldn't have done worst. It's sad.

Beating Air France in the amount of white used... Putting funny little rectangles on the engines instead of a) a proper logo (like emirates) or b) a fully coloures engine (like Virgin).

Poor design. These white planes look nice on a website, or in the first 2 weeks of service, but after a while they just look less sparkling and less clean...

Edelweiss Air still has the nicest livery of all Swiss airlines I've heard of....

It's just what I expected from Tyler Brule and Wink Media.

But I like it - it's cool, classy and functional.

I like the way some aircraft will have 'Swiss', others 'Suisse' on them.

Well done Swiss Air Lines - and here's to your success.

Rather reminiscent of PrivatAir - except PrivatAir got it a lot better!

Sorry, the use of multiple languages just complicates things. Whatever happened to the KISS principle - "Keep it simple, stupid!"

Some years ago Swissair was just interested in the international market. The Swiss market was nothing for mister Bruggisser.
Now it makes me laugh that the new name will be Swiss followed by Schweiz-Suisse-Svizzera-Svizra!!!

Some minutes ago I saw an Airbus A320 in the new c/s flying away from ZRH! I hope the new airline has a swiss hearth!

In general, it's good that they preserved Swissair brand in some manner since after all Swissair is a great airline. On the other hand this new livery is much worse than the existing one. In my opinion all-white fuselage doesn't look good on A330/A340 (compare current Swissair's color scheme with AF or Austrian).

Hi Folks,

just saw it also in the news ! Ok, it looks quite "stylish"
but i think it was the right way they choose ! It nearly looks like the old livery in the 70´s ! The MD-11´s look now like the old DC-10´s ! Maybe the want to get the
get back to the old service they had years ago !
But one thing is good for us ! We now have a lot of "new" aircrafts to photograph !!!
At the moment i dont know what to think exactly about this livery ! Best thing will be wait and see the first one !

I think it's a way of saving money, to use almost the same c/s as swissair. They only had to re-paint the logo.
But yes, a little boring.
When in doubt, flat out!

It shows, where it comes from, period!!

Two things which I really like: the names in the four national languages and the tail in the 60's Swissair style.

However, the 60's year style could have been more accentuated with a greyish fuselage, as Puck already mentioned.

One can like it, or not, but to name it stupid, shows how some people just like to bash everything Swiss, isn't it, .... ?

Well, what should I say as a Swiss? I like the colour-sheme on the Airbus airplanes and on the Crossair Embraer's. But not on the MD11 from Swissair. On this plane the livery looks very old-fashioned.
But they promised that this new airline will provide an extremly high level of service and great quality. No more paper coffee-cup's.
I wish them all my luck and best business for the future. Definitly I want to fly with this new airline very soon.
best regards

The MD11's look a little bit like the old DC-10's, IIRC.

However, A. Dose stated again today, that their plans are to replace the MD11 ASAP by new aircraft, most probably the A343.

I got shocked by this optical poluiton.

The CID and brand is great in my eyes, but the livery is the worst I saw for years!!

yes, we just need the doctors...the ambulances are ready!

I'm astonished to see so many positive or neutral reactions; when I discovered it this morning, I got a shock and was very disappointed.

Quite interesting - they have an ad on their new HP which lists a selection of the alternative names considered / suggested instead of Swiss Air Lines:

You all need to calm down. The flying public does not fly an airline based on how their planes are painted but rather on Service, price and availibility. Swissair has more important things to do than to worry about how their planes are painted. While I do not love the livery, it is fine for the time being.

Swiss tabloid "Blick" runs an online poll whether or not readers like the new corporate identity - like in this thread, it's about 50:50

"Swissair" hasn't to wory about anything anymore...(its creditors surely have)

From now on you have to say "Swiss"!

mmmmm...... i agree..... the planes are a bit too plain for my liking! (hehe!) However, i'll wait till i see the first pictures of the colours on a real plane, as they usually look better. I thought the bmi livery was awful..... but when i saw it in real life, i actually quite liked it! I certainly dont think the new SWISS colours are any more boring than Delta's! Big grin

Arrrrgggghhhh... uh it was like punish in my stomac.

Very conservative, old stylish, ambulance like, absolutly undynamic ... would say terrible!!!

I cant understand why they decided for such a livery. The lunch of a new airline
has to be more dynamic. The people has to think.... WOW...what a plane, WOW what
a livery. And I think that will not happen.

At the press conference they said the painted an A 320 with the new livery and it will
be from today on in service around europe. Till the end of year all the planes will have the
new ( oldlooking ) livery. Also the said, the want to change some things in the cabin.

More to come
Peace
Mik

Guess they are happy that they found a name. When the financial situation is better I'm sure they will bring a new color / logo. Don't forget, Crossair changed it in the last 10 years about 4 times (right, isen't it?).

For sure the new airlines has more important things to do than only the painting of the aircrafts. I think the new painting is also cheaper with the white and that should be the goal for the "moment" and lets see what the future brings to us soon...

Btw, the HB-IJP took of this morning from ZRH to BSL, if not already mentioned.

It does look a bit like an aero-ambulance. Wonder if the cabin crew will dress up like Florence Nightingale?

In any case, I am glad that they're limping back to solvency. Swissair was always the Gold standard in air travel, and I hope that they regain that honor !
