Funny this topic has been posted today. I am in the midst of trying to obtain my Aeroplan reward ticket from AC for YYZ-YVR-YYZ. I booked on-line last Friday, and have yet to receive my e-ticket. I keep getting the run-around from Aeroplan as to what is delaying the e-ticket being processed. In all fairness, in the past, my reward tickets have been issued pronto.
There ARE times, when AC/Aeroplan does not comprehend it's customers justified gripes and complaints. They need to listen more. Really listen.
In answer to your question, however, I find Aeroplan to be a pretty good operation on the whole. Yes, in my opinion, it really is a fairly generous program, for me, anyway. I'm a Super-Elite member, and it did not take long to reach that status, based on Aeroplans mileage redemption system. Aeroplan does in fact have numerous "specials" and extra earning programs throughout the year, which, in my opinion,
has been very "rewarding" for me, pardon the pun.
ALTHOUGH, Aeroplan did announce recently they were re-vamping their system, these changes did not sit well with myself and tens of thousands of Aeroplan members.
The outcry resulted in Aeroplan "suspending" these changes until further notice. These changes really would have taken Aeroplan from being in the top 10
airline mileage redemption programs, and placed it somewhere near the middle.
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea for Aeroplan Prestige members to have use of the Maple Leaf Lounges. Let's face it, anyone and their grandmother can be a Prestige (beginner - intermediate mileage redemption) member, and don't you think the lounges would be a tad swamped with the "riff-raff"? This sounds rather snotty, and I don't mean it to, but the way I see it, very frequent flyers like myself and many others have "earned" the privalege of Maple Leaf Lounge use. How would you like to try and relax in the M.L. Lounge, with Tom, Dick, and Harry from Timmins or Sudbury or some other Northern Canadian smelting mining community sitting beside you in the lounge, and all because they flew one flight, have redeemed 800 miles, and an Areoplan membership? Unless, of course, they held applicable mileage status. Even then.........
well, let's just say they'd be much happier in the airport bar, having a beer. And we members in the Maple Leaf Lounges would be even happier for them being there.
LOL.....ohhhh, this does sound snotty! BUT, I'm being honest, guys!
