TWA And Eastwind

Sun Aug 15, 1999 8:09 am

Hello Again
I was recently on a TWA MD-80 and it had red/blue interior colors. But when I read the card, it showed oak paneling on the door of the aft restroom facilities. I did not see that oak paneling on the plane I was on. Can anyone fill me in?

Eastwind?
Are they still in business? I heard rumors that they are gone.

One more thing, Southwest.
I would like to have your comments if you have flown with Southwest. I might be flying them in a while. I have heard from people that they are better than United and Continental. I dont know which to pick. I have only been on AA,UAL,NWA,TWA,. I did like UAL, but I heard Southwest is better. Please post any info

Eastwind is still here, but they are hurting so very badly. 3 of there 5 aircraft are in storage at GSO, the 4th only operating 4 days a week. They run 6-8 flights a day throughout the route network, flying to 3 cities.

Some would say that TWA is a disgrace to the industry as they have failed to turn a profit in eleven years, where on the other hand Southwest, no frills and all has made money twenty-five of its twenty-seven year history. Perhaps TWA could learn something from the disgrace to the industry!

What kind of comment was that for you to make? If you are so sure of your oppinions, back them up. If you dont, your argument has no merit. Why do you think WN is a disgrace to the industry? I didnt know that a lack of First Class and meals made an airline a disgrace, because in every other category, ie baggage, on time, complaints, WN always is at the top of the list. Tell me, TWA747100, have you flown Southwest? Its interesting to note that someone in the 5-15 year old category could be so against any particular airline. I didnt know that Southwest had a campaign aimed at insulting children. The ball is in your court TWA741. Back yourself up, or be remembered as a little kid complaining about something he doesnt understand.

I have flown Southwest a few times. In terms of service, they are certainly not the best airline. If you can fly United or Continental instead, I would do that. Southwest is a different 'class' of airline. Think of it this way: United is a Cadilac, and Southwest is a Chevy; they'll both get you there, but one is just more comfortable and more pleasant to ride in. Also, boarding a full Southwest flight is like a cattle stampead!

However, Southwest is NOT a disgrace to the industry. We have them to thank for lowering airfares in certain markets. On the corperate level, they are a model company. They have shown tremendous success. Financially, they do much better than some of the majors. In terms of safety, their record speaks for itself; not one fatality or accident in nearly 30 years of service! Who else can say that?

What the fuck does the age category have to do with having an opinion. Anyone can have an opinion, maybe some aren't terribly p.c. or to the likes thereof, but everyone is entitled to one. Personally I hate southwest. I would fly on Continental any day of the week. I would rather walk than fly southwest. However, I do wish Herb the best recoverey(i can't spell).

FLyAA757: Perhaps you should pick on someone your own size. Maybe it will be you who is remembered as the guy who critisized a little kid for doing nothing more than sharing his thoughts in a public forum. Its just an opinion, and TWA747100 is only a boy, 5-15! Leave the poor kid alone, he dosen't have to prove anything! I don't think he starting reading Aviation Week, or the Wall Street Journal yet. Gimmie a break!
