South African operates ATL & JFK to JNB and CPT. About 8000 miles each. I did the ATL-JNB route there and back in the upper deck. (Where they have economy and not business class.) Needless to say I felt like shooting someone when I got off that plane. My ass became a whole new shape, and I LOVE flying because I am a private pilot. On the way home, the big Springbok 744 had to stop at Verde in the middle of the Southern Atlantic to refuel so we could get to ATL. Many people became distressed because they did not know this leg had a fuel stop and thought we were having an emergency.

Scuse me, not Verde, I was mistaken. We stopped at a VERY small island. Since it was dark, I don't remember seeing any towns or villages, and I wanted to sleep so I didn't catch much of it. Exuse the mistake.

LHR-SIN/BKK-SYD is probably the longest. It's opperated on 744s by Qantas, BA, and maybe some more.

Does the EWR-HGK flight go eastbound or westbound?

UAL - LAX to MEL 14 hours 55 minutes of pure hell in economy of a Boeing 744. That long in any plane in economy is hell.

All will change when SQ starts SIN-LAX vv nonstop when it gets its A340-500s in 2003. That will definitely be the longest haul of any aircraft non-stop.
