Sounds unlikely, after all they sold Go-Fly.

It also says they are shedding another 16,000 jobs.

After reading RE's comment in today's FT, I'm a little confused as to what exactly BA are planning; it may not quite be the 'no-frills' operation we think it will be-perhaps a transfer of slots to GB airways is on the cards?

Eagerly awaiting Feb 13th....

British airways will have an unfair advantage over the discounters because they can use their Gatwick slots - Gatwick is far more preferable then Stantsted or Luton (30 mins by train from Victoria and is well served by other train lines).

Easy Jet have some slots at Gatwick but they are at lousy times (mid morning, early afternoon)

Based on rail travel times Gatwick is not preferable to other airports. Luton is 30 minutes from Kings Cross and Stansted 30 minutes from Liverpool Street.

Try getting to Gatwick from the north of London.

IF you've got 'free' access to the net and have nothing to do for an hour, have a listen to Rod Eddington addressing the 3rd Quarter results meeting earlier today (1400G):-

You might need Real Player or Win Media Player.
If nothing else, listen to the first few minutes and hear what Rod has to say about your header line!

Sounds to me like another schizophrenic move by a desperate full-service major who has, like others, preferred denial to facing reality in dealing with dramatic changes that have been evolving in the European short-haul marketplace for the better part of a decade (and more than twice that long in the U.S.).

After unloading Go less than one year ago and having seen all low-cost airlines within high-cost airlines in the U.S. and Europe sold off or discontinued, is BA making a decision that borders on insanity by repeating a mistake while expecting a different result? Time will tell - based on experience, the answer will be forthcoming in the near future.

TB and all other 'speculators' (as Rod has called us!)-BA has officially confirmed it will NOT be launching another low-cost airline.

So that's the end of that discussion....

Next discussion-what will BA be doing with the slots left 'vacant' by the almost-certain shedding of some Euro routes (and perhaps long-haul routes), specifically out of LGW?
