My how times have changed. When I flew for Eastern in the 80s and early 90s we ran full 727-200s on that route. We served premium hot meals which was quite a challenge since actual flight time was often only 45 minutes. I also remember we carried large numbers of Hasidim commuting between their communities in Brooklyn and rural Quebec. When Eastern shut down, LGA-YUL was one of the first routes Delta went after.
I work for Southwest, but the views expressed are my own and do not necessarily represent those of Southwest.

Hey Mark - always nice to see competition out of YUL. Often it drives the prices down and makes the others (ie: Air Canada restless  Smile... let's hope it evolves into RJs for USX

This sounds like a weird route to me, especially the aircraft that's going to be used on the route! Why would anyone want to fly on a prop plane when they could fly on a faster AC A319?

It is interesting, especially since Delta just announced a few weeks ago that they were resuming the route on 2 March with FRJ-328 Jets. I wonder if this is a response to Delta...

Gr8SlvrFlt - there used to be enough volume for Eastern to use a TriStar and an A300 to back up the 727s and DC-9s at one point... even a shuttle service... but Open Skys pretty much killed all that.. instead of New York, Montrealers are pretty much forced to make their connections in Toronto, Chicago or Atlanta or go nonstop (a few routes opened up and remained). New York and Boston have turned into RJ markets for the most part (LGA & AC exception).. kinda sad in a way but I'm glad to see it making a bit of a comeback even if we are talking about propellor aircraft and small regional jets. Betcha we see Air Canada sprucing up their service on this run in the near future..

Don't forget CAL. Nonstops to CLE,EWR and soon IAH to connect passangers seemlessly throughout the network. IAH service will be on the 737-500.
Actually flown: EMB-120 EMB-145 B717 B737 B757 B767

If the Boeing Canada DH8 wasn't a typo, it might refer to the time that Boeing either wholly-owned or they had a stake in The DeHavilland(sp?) Corporation back in the 80's.

Excuse me? Sorry to single you out, TWAmerican, but it seems as though I see thoughtless racial stereotyping time and time again on this forum. It still baffles me as to how one broadly defined group of people can be "mean" or "nice." Please be more considerate in the future.
