I believe is one of the big european ones .
BA, KL, AF or LH, of these four the only one flying to Australasia is BA, although AF flies to PPT and NOU thorough LAX and NRT.

Do we mean total cities served, including domestic & international?-I would have thought in that case, one of the US carriers, with their massive domestic coverage would come out top.

If purely international, could well be one of the European carriers such as LH or BA.

You've got to remember, BA has the 'advantage' that it's domestic network is geographically constrained, so it can only really fly 'outside' of the UK to get anywhere interesting!  Laugh out loud

ATA (suprisingly, I'm not kidding). Don't know if this is still the case though...

The airline with the most total cities on their route map: dometic (& international if applicable).

ATA? I was thinking maybe United or British. Got any numbers? Other ideas?

It is not ATA. At least not if your talking scheduled. My guess, based solely on all thier point-to-point routes, is AMR Corporation (American Airlines, American Eagle, American Connection). If not AA, then DL.

I'm making an educated guess here, altho I have no numbers to back me up. It seems to me that British Airways flies to the most international cities, while United Airlines may have the most domestic cities served in the USA. I believe UA is the only carrier flying to all 50 states in the union. Again, just an theory on my part. Regards.

I forget the year, I think 98 or 99 ATA did fly to over 400 destinations world wide. That was when ATA had a larger charter opperation and most of them were just a one time deal. On a scheduled bases I would think UA, AA, DL, BA or LH would all be at the top.

I've seen those Continental ads, I've also read Continental flies to the most International Destinations of any US airline, (remember they fly to many, many Mexican Cities, and that counts) Don't know if CO Micronesia counts or not.

No airline flies to all 50 states as Delaware is the only state without scheduled air service. Besides, when United pulled out of Jackson, that ended Mississippi service.

My question, are we defining strictly by airline or by airline and its affliates (ie AA or AA and AE and AC, UA or UA and UA Express, DL or DL Connection, DL Shuttle, DL Express) also, how about destinations by codeshare?

Don't have any recent foreign timetables, but:

AA's 5 Sept timetable shows 177 AA/TW destinations. This includes seasonal ones (ANC and the Colorado ski airports) but not Amer Eagle and of course not codeshares.

UA's 5 Sept lists 126; DL's 1 Dec shows 155 (or 154 if you don't include Delta Express).

CO's 6 Sept shows about 132 not including CO Micronesia. The Houston billboard either referred to destinations from Houston, or included CO Express and so on.

All of these could be miscounted by one or two.

Timz- Excellent! Seems AA wins for US carriers. Now what about worldwide? I wonder how these numbers stack up against BA. They are my guess for most cities served by any single carrier if it's not AA.

AA's December 15th timetable shows about 159 AA/TWA destinations. So AA still seeems to have clinched it--in the US at least.

Delta's Sept 1st showed about 160 to 165 destinations, but I haven't seen there latest timetable.

What about American Eagle or Delta Connection? Isn't American Eagle considered its own airline since all of the seperate airlines merged into one. Someone want to do the tally on some of the regional carriers?

AA mainline will be adding four destinations this year as well: VLN, MDE, SDI, and PUJ.
