AA 767 Legroom In Economy-class.

Wed Feb 06, 2002 8:56 am

Hi,
a friend of me is going to fly AA ( AA89, B767 ) from Brussels to Chicago and I heard that AA has removed some rows in economy to provide more legroom for the passengers.
Have all planes been refitted or is this only for inner US flights ?
regards Peter.

Yes. its called "More Room Throughout Coach" and they now have the worlds best seat pitch. i`m pretty sure they are on their International fleet.

Thank you.
I am curios about his opinion then. And more power to AA then because seat pitch at LH, NW and UA ( from my experience ) is almost not acceptable.

You will find that MRTC is a great thing. You should be very comfortable , even if you are over 6 ft. LAt week I flew Business class on Iberia from MAD to AMS, and was appaled at the legroom in that class, less than AA in coach. And KLM was even worse, in coach on a AMS to LHR flight. Maybe their trans-atlantic aircraft are better, but for my money AA's MRTC is the ticket.

Flew a AA 757 ORD-SJU 4+ hours, economy class, even in this "tube" I had more room than I've ever had on a 757. I'm 6'3" and 280+ Kudos to AA

MRTC is incredible. On their 777s, I've been extremely comfortable on 6+ hour transatlantic flights. AA has my respect and my loyalty for their decision to increase legroom fleet-wide; it's something that I think all airlines need to do.

And yes, your friend's aircraft will most likely have MRTC. I believe all AA 767s have been re-configured by now. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure on this.

MRTC is the best thing that happened to airtravel, for us poor guys who travel in coach. I am 6'4" and can actually enjoy a transatlantic flight, even sleep!

I flew ORD-LHR-ORD this summer in my favorite aircraft, the 767. Even on an eight hour trans-atlantic flight, I was very comfortable.

As for all of the 767s, I'd say it is a fair bet that they are. I know right before I flew ORD-LHR-ORD about 95%of their 767s were reconfigured, so I'd say now that all of them are.

I'd say he is in for a treat.

While on hold with AA yesterday booking HPN-ORD-SFO for this friday, the hold music person stated "MRTC is now complete on 100% of our fleet.

looking forward to my first ride on a 738!

Does anybody have the actual seat pitch on each aircraft now, and how that compares to other major international carriers?

Thank you all for the informations.
Next time when I visit the US I will definately look for a flight on AA.
I usually fly to DTW or ORD from either FRA or AMS and choose nonstop flights with LH/UAL or NW but I always feel uncomfortable when the seat in front of me declines and I get squeezed for the next 8+ hours.

Oh yes, now the whole fleet both domestic and international has been reconfigured in the MRTC configuration. Those new interiors are fantastic, new walls around the windows, new dark blue seats (remember in the mid 90's they used to be medium blue with gray rectangles) and more space between rows. Now you can easily stretch your legs even when you travel in economy class.
My first flight on an American plane with the new configuration was almost three years ago when American had just started the MRTC refurbishment program. That flight was a 767-200 from Chicago to Brussels. But now all 767-200's are pulled out of the Trans Atlantic sector, so are the A300's. Now, the only two AA aircrafts that come to Europe are the 767-300 and the 777.
You are going to love it.
Have a nice flight  Smile
