Mesaba's Fleet

Wed Feb 06, 2002 9:32 am

I was reading an article from the September 2000 issue of airliners and it said Mesaba had planes with either 34 seats(Saab 340) and 69 seats (RJ-85). Are there any plans to fill the gap between the two?

Mesaba was still flying the Dash 8s into 99, and a year or so before that was still flying 19 seat Metro IIIs

Yes Mesaba will probably be flying a plane in the 45-50 seat range. Northwest Airlines has order 75 CRJ 440s (which are a 45 seat version of the CRJ 200, there are about 150 more as options or future considerations. Some CRJs will be 50 seats and some 45 seats (same fuselage)

It is unknown how Northwest will lease them, whether they will lease them to Express Airlines 1 which already flies CRJs or if they will lease them to Mesaba like they do with the ARJs. I believe that Mesaba will probably eventually be leased some of the CRJs
