Questions About Transjet Airways

Wed Feb 06, 2002 7:34 pm

They have now acquired a third Boeing 747-200 configured with 512 seats. Transjet´s homepage is very sparse on information, but does anyone now which routes they will traffic?

I think they are going to charter Muslims from Algeria to Mecca for the Hajji (sp?)

Hi there,
I know that Transjet operated many charter flights last summer from manchester to europe's holiday hotspots with the MD'83...(i think that is what they were). They are also going to operate from London Stansted.

The 747-200's i believe are doing the hadj for Air Algerie. Not sure what they are going to do with 3 747-200's once hadj has finished.
From what i have heard, i believe they are planning to use them for ACMI leases. A bit like what Air Atlanta do.

So we shall see what happens, hope the above helps a bit.

Many thanks

Don't forget that Transjet belongs to Thomas Johannson who formerly owned Air Ops, which also did a lot of ACMI operations with L1011s in the 1990s.
