World Airways (I think that is their name) flies once a week from Houston to Accra. You have to have a valid reason for the flight i.e Oil workers etc.

Add ATL-CPT/JNB and JFK-JNB(maybe CPT as well, I'm just not sure) operated on a South African Airways 747-400. With the ATL flights, they fly 7 days a week to South Africa, but I think 4 of the days are ATL-JNB-CPT and the other 3 are ATL-CPT-JNB.

Ethiopian Airlines flies EWR-FCO-Addis Ababa with a 763

Ghana Airways (I think that's what it is) flies JFK-Accra with a DC-10.

Hi all,
LT-AWACS, I must correct you. The flights are operated by World Airways by an MD-11, and fly not to Acrra, but to Luanda Angola under the name Sonair. My father got to fly there to accompany one of his close friends who is moving to Angola. The flight has two stops, one in Sal, and one in Gabon. Hope that helps.

Sincerely,

The Ethiopian flights from Addis to Newark (tech stop in Rome, no traffic rights at all, neither Ethiopia to Rome nor Rome to the US) continue to Dulles, so EWR and IAD are both served by the same flight (no traffic rights between EWR and IAD either obviously). Aircraft type is 767.

Something that really irritates is seeing "Worldwide Service" on United aircraft. Doesn't say much for America's view of the world. "Worldwide Service" like the "World Series". Sorry, a few cities in western Europe and a few in Asia plus the Americas do not "Worldwide Service" make. Someone should point to Africa on a map in a UA planning meeting someday or show them a BA/LH/AF/MH/RG/CX/KL/any other half decent airline's route map. Or are UA about to go out of business? Hell, Alitalia fly to more continents than UA.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Other airlines flying on the USA/Canada-Africa/Middle East routes are;

Air Canada 767-300 Toronto to Tel Aviv.

Delta Airlines 767-300/MD11 New York to Istanbul, Cairo, Tel Aviv and Dubai (latter three suspended at present).

Continental Airlines 777-200 Newark to Tel Aviv.

PIA A310-300/747-200/747-300 Toronto and New York to Dubai.

Ryanb741-PIA is not a Middle Eastern airline, its South Asian and they do not fly from Heathrow to New York, also if you note the query is not about European routes.

Yes Malaysia Airlines did fly to Dubai from Newark(EWR) and not New York(JFK), they will revive the route in the future but it may not be routed via the Midlle East anymore.

Thanks no1racer I knew I'd remember something wrong in the details, but I have seen the World Air MD-11 at IAH before.

There are still talks to get more Houston - Mid East service underway

Airmale- Turkey is in the Mid-East as is Egypt; as MID-EAST is not a fully defined Geographical place, though the General Area is known (kind of like the 'Deep South' in the USA) Turkey (like Russia) is however in both Europe and Asia, like Egypt is in Africa and Asia.

Istanbul is in the Middle East along with the rest of Turkey. We just learned this in Geography class. The dividing line is the Bosporus or Dardanelles (forget which straight).

Yes, geographicly, they are the Middle East, just like geographiclly Miami is the in the South. However, Turkey considers themselves part of Europe, even Delta's website list Istanbul as Eastern Europe.
