The first thing I thought when I read the facebook post yesterday was WW to KEF. I really think the airport would be splitting hairs to call LHR a completely new destination. I also think it would be quite a publicity flub to say it could be international or domestic and then it is domestic given how much the region is longing for a European flight. CDG on DL is definitely a good thought. Do their international 757s have the range to do that flight?

Reason why I think there's a good possibility it's international is the temporary renovation to our IAB. That wasn't even in the plans. They were just gonna build a new FIS facility and not touch the current one. The new facility will be breaking ground sometime this year. They started doing the temp renovation late last year into early this year. Don't think they'd do all that work for a flight to Mexico or Canada.

My friend at United says she's hearing Tokyo. Not sure on who, but that's supposedly the word. Nothing but speculation.

I agree with it being International. You don't tease international and it not be international. Could be carribean though, not Europe. WN/Frontier. I think if it was Asia or Europe it would have been leaked by now though.

Supposedly CLE and CVG also have new service announcements this week. CLE is F9 so maybe all 3 are. Are there any places in Florida they fly that BNA hasn't had service?

Frontier flies BNA-MCO. Everything else is well covered there by existing carriers.

Is there a press conference or something for this? I can't find anyone that is there or is this just a social media announcement. Lack of media makes me think it isn't that big of an announcement. Maybe you guys follow other people I don't though.

There's a press conference at 10am, they'll announce it on social media at 10am as well

Thursday/Sunday I guess would be either you go for the weekend as a vacation or you go for Sunday-Thursday for work. Not sure how much business travel there is between the two though.

Good points. I'm sure the tourist aspects are big. Plus, as I said on my Facebook page, the musical ties are strong. Western Canada has a large country following.

Since F9 and AC moved to B, I heard United will be picking up A2, and A1 will be the only unused gate at BNA. A1 is calling Allegiant or Spirit's name. Concourse B is now full.

I don't think many folks expected this one. If it works, they might up the frequency later on. They moved YYZ to daily and year-round.

As for G4, I don't think they would do well here. Pretty much every destination they would fly to here already has some level of service at or nearby. I'd expect NK, but I'm not sure.

G4 depends on whether they see Nashville as an origin or a destination. If it's the former and they could get TSA worked out, BWG, CKV and even MQY would probably make more sense than BNA.

I do know people who haven driven to Knoxville to catch G4 to PGD. Your ideas about Bowling Green. Clarksville and Smyrna are interesting.

Yes, but as an AS flight to SFO. It'll carry the VX code and service for a time, but a lot of those announcements made this morning are about the growth plans of AS in the west.

I think it's time for a bump here. Construction on the interim IAB is apparently starting at the end of the month; I received an email today about the removal of the moving sidewalks on A.

The parking construction is moving along and is a huge mess. So it goes.

Read the same thing in the MNAA email. I haven't been down on A in years. Are UA, AC, and F9 still down there? The airport website says they are but I thought at least one or more had moved.

Looks like every gate on the B Concourse is now occupied by someone. That hasn't been seen since the current terminal opened 30 years ago I think.

I realize that it happens but I find it amusing to hear about people driving to Tys from Nashville just given the absurd number of people that drive to Bna from Knoxville every day! Back to the original discussion for years I have wondered why G4 hasn't started Clarksville. Maybe they don't have the facilities? It just seems like it would be a perfect fit given the population and growth of the area as well as several local universities. They would also likely get some leakage from Nashville. However, the G4 of the last couple of years has shown less interest in starting alternative airports and has not shied away from competition. I think if they start the Nashville market they would more than likely just go to BNA. They do fly into RDU and MCI which both also have considerable WN operations.

With the boom going on in Nashville I definitely believe BNA could sustain a daily flight direct to Europe. Whether it is DL BNA-CDG or AMS or AA- BNA-LHR I think this route could make a lot of sense.

Alternatively I could see DL and VS using the JV to fly to LHR seems like they could easily fill a daily 787 on this route or a DL 767-300. If the flight was timed well for onward connections to Europe and beyond.

Are they waiting for the new international arrivals building to be completed in concourse A, before getting one of these TATL flights? If so, what is the time frame on that project?

They're doing...something right now. It's impossible to tel, but they've boarded up the moving walkways presumably to remove them. The signs all reference an "Interim International Arrivals Facility" and what that looks like and what it actually means, I don't know.

They are building a walkway outside of security that allows international arrivals to exit directly to the curb as opposed to having to re-check their bags, clear TSA and then exit TSA and reclaim their bags. Current setup has the international arrivals facility inside of the TSA secure area - like the way Atlanta was before Terminal F.

I would think BA, ala AUS type introduction with a 788 to LHR. I've heard rumors about Norwegian to LGW. That I assume would be less than daily and not as attractive to business travelers. Someone here mentioned CDG. Don't know about that one. I'd say FRA on Condor before a CDG flight. I'm going to be the always overly optimistic one and say JAL to NRT sooner or later. I'll be glad at any.

I think Nashville will be the first market of its size to get a nonstop to Asia. Mainly due to their strong business ties with the region. They're currently renovating the current facility to attract some international carriers. They will eventually have a new snazzy one when the new concourse A is built in the next 2-4 years.

They have. Rumor has it that BA's SJC flight should have been Nashville's. It'll happen eventually.

I still think NK will go to BNA soon and do DFW and DTW at least. DTW especilly with PDEW peaking in the 700s, if I do my math right there should be no reason they couldn't fill a densely configured A32S and make money.
