As my computer is tied up with too many tasks right now, I can only go by my feeble memory. I believe that TW had accepted delivery on 30 of the 50 firm orders it had.

No reason to miss the 717... Others will fly former TWA's.

717, the second best airliner ever built!

50 717-231s were originally ordered by TWA, then along came AMR, who bought TWA, then cancelled the last 20 of the order. So 30 ex-TWA 717s is all we'll ever see. Regards.

all thirty have been delivered, nine are parked at airports MCI and STL.

AA has announced that ALL 717s will be returned to Boeing by June this year.

The R-U-M-O-R (somewhat credible) is that AirTran is in negotiation talks with Boeing to pick up ALL of TWA's 717s... wouldn't that be great.

 Sad  Sad  Sad

The 712 is an awesome aircraft and it is too bad that AA is throwing them out for an (IMO) inferior!  Sad

I wouldn't be surprised if Hawaiian was in there trying to get some of those ex-TWA birds too. Plans are to eliminate the entire Aloha 732/-700 fleet and replace them with 712s. There have been reports that 752s will also be added if the Hawaiian / Aloha deal goes through.

Umm... not exactly. The 737-200 fleet would be replaced with the 717-200. However, 717's can't operate the routes Aloha is using the 737-700s on. That's what the 757-200s are for.
