Looks like that from DL's website.... Seems odd, especially since N819DX was in mods for over 3 months. So it got the mid-cabin galleys removed, a seat rearrangement, and some other odds and ends in that time unrelated to IFE or power? Looks like the 757>75D mod has more stuff done and takes less time.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't install IFE/ISP. The amenities info on DL.com is often incorrect or incomplete. Guessing that's the case here, but we'll have to wait until someone gets on board.

3218 ferried to SBD for retirement. 3 remain of the originally-announced 7 to retire this year: 3210, 3213, and 3214.

I believe it was ATL-AUS on June 7 (it showed up on FR24 on an AUS-ATL). There was a 739 that popped up as the inbound aircraft, so that was likely it. Not sure of the flight #.

Audi, that's because it had miscoded transponders during flight tests which matched that registration. They were fixed before delivery.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I saw it flying on Planefinder on June 6 but unfortunately the flight history only shows the past 5 flights and as mentioned, you can't search for it via reg or hex code. If anyone at DL can find out for sure I'd appreciate it. :)

Looks like N318US (3218) retired today, 6/10. Operated MSP-SBD departing MSP around 9am local. Last revenue flight BZN-MSP yesterday afternoon 6/9. Will the aircraft be parted out at SBD? Who does that contract work?

If you can make more money parting out an aircraft than storing it because it is so old it won't be taken up...why would you not?

Moving the lav from 2L to 2R adds about a week to the job. We had to do that to the NW 757 fleet. There is a ton of structural work for the dump valve pan on the side of the cargo bin.

Right. They'll have the new seats, full spectrum lighting and smart bins.

The reason for the delay was late delivery of seats and the ceiling panels all had to be reworked.

They're from Shanghai Airlines.

All five have already been flying with Delta for over a year since their first round of mods were completed, which included installation of WiFi, winglets and heavy mx checks!

Some of these frames are apparently in SBD on a short term basis and might be moved to MZJ or another place for a permanent stay. N623DL did go to BYH then flew to SBD. 3211 specifically might be moving somewhere else.

I had my first experience with the refurbished 757s on my most recent trip. On my first flight, I was impressed that you could hardly tell the difference between them and the newly delivered 737-900ERs. However, the second I was on had the older IFE screens as found on the original 737-800s. This had me scratching my head because both had the IFE newly installed as part of the refurbishment process.

The aircraft in question are N688DL (newer system) and N900PC (older system). Checking the list, it appears N688DL was completed over 6 months before N900PC, so I don't understand the logic of the newer refurb getting the older system. Is there any reasoning behind this?

N900PC is an ex-Shanghai bird. I wonder if there were some vendor sourcing issues since these were procured after the 757 mods had started and the plan is to put the new system in place when units are available. Just a guess on my part.

N900PC has been with Delta for nearly 20 years. It shouldn't be subject to any of the supplier issues surrounding refurbishing the recently acquired ex-Shanghai aircraft.

N900PC was never operated by Shanghai Airlines, it was nut, and then taken by DL in 1997. As was just mentioned, it shouldn't have been affected by any of the problems that have delayed the refurbishment of the five recently acquired ex-Shanghai birds. Not sure why they would have used the old IFE screens other than DL may have had them sitting around or gotten a really sweet deal on them.

Because these ex-Shanghai aircraft are the 'four-door' version of the 757 (like the ex-TWA '75S' International aircraft). The rest of Delta's birds (75C / 75D / 75H) is the three-door version of the 757 with a pair of over-the-wing emergency exits on each side.

My guess is that these seats / screens came from ex-Song '75X' aircraft that have been retired. They had the same screens as the original 737-800s.

N819DX is flying LAX-ATL tomorrow morning and if you look at the seat map as if you were buying a ticket, it shows the correct amenities. It's basically the same map shown as the 75P on the fleet page but has the icons for IFE/ISP.

Saw DL9935 pop up for this afternoon with an A320 ferrying SAL-DTW. Expect that to be either 3253 or 3256, and the other should follow suit very soon. 3116 should also exit around the same time.

Per a source, the first 350 (ship 3501) should arrive in mid-July and will enter service alongside 3502 later this fall.

N669DN was ferried to IND from ATL earlier today. Just MX like 667 or actually mods? They must have some space after the several that exited IND with mods in late May.

669 is getting the 199 pax mod and NGS. Should exit in late August.

752 627 scheduled to ferry ATL-BYH tomorrow as DL 9931, retirement flight. 633/635 are the last two scheduled to retire at the time of this post.
MD90 9202 also scheduled to ferry to BYH tomorros as DL 9932.
320 3227 in DTW for 2Ku installation.

Did not know that MD-90s were being parked too. Must be high up there on cycles/hours and not worth putting that one through a heavy check. DL sent many 88s/90s for heavy checks this past winter.

According to FlightAware, it has a full day's worth of flights if that's the case, before it's final flight to BYH, which it doesn't show. FR24 is however showing it's flight to BYH interestingly. I assume one of these sites is correct!

I don't get it, I thought Delta wasn't retiring the MD90's at this time? N902DA is filed as flying from ATL to BYH tomorrow but it is also filed as flying MKE-ATL-DEN-ATL-STL-ATL tomorrow as well. Which one is correct, and am I missing where Delta said they are parking MD90's?

I show internally that it is flying a regular schedule. It is also not on the retirement list. I'm not sure why it's filed to BYH.

FWIW 9232 will be the first one to go in December.

Strange about 9202. Perhaps this was a premature filing.

So the MD-90 are already on a retirement schedule ? I only thought the MD-88 were

Why retire a 20-year-old MD-90 that's nowhere near its useful life limits and when the V2500s are still in production? It really amazes me how far they have abandoned the high ROI/low capex strategy that allowed the airline to be successful this past decade. Such a disappointment.
Did you know that a Boeing 717-200 is really a McDonnell Douglas MD95-30? ;-)
