We knew (based off the delivery schedule) that Air Tanzania's single order late last year had to be one of the teens. Since there was never a follow cancellation by Crystal (LN17) that had to leave it as LN19.

This is normal for orders placed by CASGC ( China Aviation Supplies Import and Export Group Corporation ) so these were probably placed by them. Once CASGC allocates them to Chinese operators, Boeing will update their database to reflect that.

4x new-build GE 787-8... sounds like a top-up order.

Good candidates would be UA, AA, JL, ET, or one of the Chinese carriers.

Silk Way Airlines has been revealed as an 737 MAX customer:

https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news ... 737-max-8s

Silk Way Airlines (ZP, Baku) has signed a firm order agreement with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for ten B737 MAX 8s. An Azeri government statement issued on Friday, April 14, said the deal was actually reached during the summer of 2016 during the Farnborough International Airshow. As such, the first two aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2018 with the remainder to arrive through late 2020.

That is likely the unidentified 739ER order for 10 placed on March 14th. According to DL's SEC filings they were notified by Boeing that their put options were being firmed on March 17th.

So, 130 frames in total. Good size fleet. Maybe, just maybe, the A.net people could somewhat kind of agree that the 739 is not that bad of an a/c especially if DL did two top up orders when DL could have added 10 A321's as they are an existing customer, but chose the 739 instead.

Being late adopters of the model, DL surely has increased the fleet to within 20 or so of UA quickly.

UA has 12 -900A models and 136 -900ER models, so very similar numbers between the two carriers now.

G'day

Here it says China Southern is about to order 20 A 350-900's

http://www.aero.de/news-26558/China-Sou ... aufen.html

The article also claims that China Eastern is already operating 5 of the type, likely they mix that up with China Airlines, so this news has to be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed :scratchchin:

Bloomberg confirms the news.

China Southern Airlines Co. said it plans to buy 20 widebody aircraft from Airbus SE in a deal worth about $6 billion, according to a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange Wednesday.

The Guangzhou-based company said it will acquire the A350-900 jets, each with a list price of $298.9 million. Discounts are customary for such large orders.

Considering the news from December talked about an A350 and an 77W order it could mean that last months unidentified 77W order was for China Southern.

Anyway, the A350 order again shows that China keeps on helping out Boeing and Airbus during the current wide-body order drought.

Boeing's orders from last week (through the 30th):

Fifteen new orders (Business Jet / VIP Customer(s) for one 737, SMBC Aviation Capital for one 737, Unidentified Customer(s) for 11 737s and two 787s). In the changes category reduced 737 orders by three. Identified SMBC Aviation Capital for two 737s previously listed as unidentified.

Stab at the dark but guessing the -3 737 are SMBC Aviation.

Avianca only converted part of their A319neo order so yes, there are still orders. In total there are 50 orders left, 20 from Avianca, 18 from Frontier, 2 Private/government orders and 10 unsiclosed orders.

The Centre for Asia Pacific (CAPA), the Sydney-based aviation think-tank, in its report titled "Global Fleet and Financing Review 2017," also said that the airline is likely to opt for 50 Boeing 777X for long haul operations.

777X for a new entrant in the long-haul market? Seems like an odd choice, especially for an airline that should be getting good business input from SIA.

Either 787 or A350 would make a lot more sense to me.

777X has 2 variants 777-8 and 777-9 which directly compete with A359 & A35X respectively. 777X's order book is quite small currently and thus maybe Boeing is offering a better deal here.

Both 777X variants are quite a lot larger than the corresponding A350 variants by seating capacity. In fact, the 777-8 and A350-1000 are the closest in size of the four aircraft. The 777X is a bigger, heavier airframe than the A350.

The 777-8 is a niche ULH aircraft and the 777-9 is very big indeed for a new entrant -- almost exactly 747-400 size.

That's logical. A young airline which has only 20 A320s start flying international with a start order of 50 777X. :banghead:

Neither Tata nor SIA are that crazy.

IMHO Boeing is doing well order-wise considering the market slowdown.
I'm postponing my Airbus judgement til after the Paris Airshow next month, but 23 net orders is ... well ... very slow.

SIA does have 20 777-9 on order so they seem to have faith in the type. As such, feeling it could be a fit for Vistara may not be insane. Also, when they say "50", that does not necessarily mean all 50 would be placed as firm orders. I could see a much smaller firm order plus options and purchase rights, together adding up to 50 (maybe 10/10/30?). That would allow Vistara to start small and if successful, be able to add more frames with already locked-in pricing and production slots to support stable expansion.

The order was probably signed this month.

ACG annouced a 787 lease deal with EL AL last week with an interesting twist:

from their press release:
"NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (May 4, 2017) – Aviation Capital Group LLC (“ACG”) announced today it has signed long-term lease agreements with EL AL Israel Airlines for two new B787-9s aircraft from ACG’s order book commitment with Boeing and two new B787-8s on a sale and lease-back agreement."
http://www.aviationcapitalgroup.com/pre ... Boeing787s

As EL AL did not yet firm up any 787-8s from their 2015 deal with Boeing (only 3 787-9s were firmed up) this ACG press release reveals that EL AL is now close to firming up another batch of 787s, including 787-8s.

ps.
It's not the Unidentified order for 4 787-8s from April as they were ordered with GE engines.

Wow, a flat out MAX 9 order. Congrats to Boeing and Primera.

This article also states they plane to use them to North America!

I'm stunned how they call it "an order up to 20 aircraft" while 8 aircraft will be leased instead of being purchased.
What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived.
