I flew Aeroflot in 1999 on ORD-SVO-LED return. I flew on Aeroflot's Boeing 767-300ER, reg. # EI-CKD on the ORD-SVO-ORD legs, as well as on LED-SVO (the aircraft had just flown in from San Francisco), and a TU-154M on SVO-LED. The flights were all very good, with the exception that for some reason, the entertainment system was not working on EI-CKD at the time. The service was good, the food nice, overall a very pleasant experience. They offered a duty free shopping service on the ORD-SVO-ORD flights as well. Comfort on the 767s was good, but on the TU-154M, the cabin had the newer seats Tupolev put in the M-series, which are a bit more bolstered for the back, but have the infamous rod-across-your-ass cushion common to every Soviet airliner I've ever flown on. Plus legroom is VERY tight in coach on Soviet-era jets.
Overall, I felt as if I were on any European airline - for comparison, it was much like Finnair and SAS in terms of quality, if not availability of amenities. I especially like Aeroflot's tea and coffee service, which is served from real stainless steel tea and coffee pots, in more the traditional Russian manner - tea is brewed seperately and diluted with hot water.
