Thanks for the explanation. I wondered how they got the airplane so fast and why the interior is top notch for long haul.
Why shouldn't it be top notch?
Those types of seats have long lead times. The Webber Cirrus seat as shown is not going to be available with only a couple months lead time since it is quite customized for each airline that uses it. It takes longer to configure the airplane than Iran Air had since their order was only firmed up in 2016. If the interior hadn't been designed for another airline, I would have expected a very basic business class and economy seat that can be bought more or less off the shelf and not top notch.
I think a lot of people was expecting a basic, simple configuration for both IR A321/A330 since it was a fast delivery. However Airbus has many A321 and A330 laying around returned by operators or not delivered at all. Much to we avgeeks' happiness, IR managed to pull a quick one with new delivery scheduled every other weeks once the delivery is in full swing.
IR/ Airbus might want to give Avianca a call though, seems like they are offloading quite a number of young A330 and not taking A320 family delivery as many as they used to.
I wonder if IR will pick up N508AV sitting at VCV for quite some time. She was slightly over a year old before being stored in Jan 2016.
