JB Preparing To Meet Its 1,000,000th FLL Customer

Tue Feb 12, 2002 6:43 am

jetBlue is expecting that it's 1,000,000th customer out of FLL will be coming around the corner shortly. jetBlue will honour them personally at FLL (when and how, I don't know). From FLL, jetBlue offers ten daily flights to JFK and two daily flights to Washington Dulles. In May, jetBlue will offer direct service between Ft. Lauderdale and Long Beach, via Dulles, and is expected to launch non-stop service to Long Beach this summer. JetBlue has operated more than 7,500 flights between JFK and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport over the past two years. The airline added twice-daily service between Washington, D.C. (Dulles) and Fort Lauderdale in November 2001, carrying some 30,000 customers on this new route to date. New York to Fort Lauderdale is now the largest domestic market in the country, with nearly 5,000 people flying between the two cities every day, said Dave Barger, president of JetBlue in a prepared statement.

This past weeked I flew out of FLL and I was surprised to see how busy the airport was. From what I saw I would say its even busier than MCO . Its also a very organized airport and much cheaper and convenient than MIA.

What determines what number passenger one is?

Is there something in the reservation information that says "passenger number XXXXXXXXX"?

Whatever JB will do will surely make that passenger want to fly jB for the rest of his/her life!

Where is Jetblue based?

JFK. They're also building up a major operation at LGB.

They have 22 slots at LGB.
Hardly major!

I still think they should have opted for Ontario (just my $.02)

While not a major presence at LGB. They will be percentage wise at that airport. Due to slot restrictions. They took options on all that was left available there.

Once they have reached capacity they will easily offer more service than any other carrier there.

Also, they trimmed their flights to/from Ontario to one round trip daily, down from two. While Long Beach continues do do well with three. So perhaps Long Beach is a better choice.
