Who Designed MEA's Color Scheme?

Tue Feb 12, 2002 8:58 pm

Which company designed the new MEA color scheme? It looks that SyrianAir has hired the same designers, b'coz designs are close to each other.

I believe it was an Airbus in-house team that designed the current livery.

I wonder if Airbus have an in-house design team because quite a few airlines have launched new liveries along with new Airbus aircraft. In the case of MEA and Syrianair, it could be true. The two liveries are similar but so are dozens of other airlines, the white body and bold type are everywhere these days. I really like MEA's colour scheme a lot, the cedar tree on the white background is really nice and suggestive of the snowy Lebanon mountain range. Plus I like the red green and blue letters. Nice.

El Al 001, not in our lifetime, sadly.

I think they 'throw in' the rebranding as an extra to entice customers...

Boeing does the same. But I can only remember them doing Australian Airlines before they got purchased by Qantas.

Maybe you meant optimistic as opposed to pessimistic (I think I understand your point) but you didn't spell it.

Is Peptimistic a side-effect of Peptobismal? What's going on?!

Cedarjet,
Ya MEA's colorscheme is simple, expressive, and good, but not THAT good. When viewed from a far distance, it really looks poor, compared to similar design schemes, say Emirates, SriLankan, or SAS...

El Al 001, Syrian's color is good, but it's a duplicated image of other airlines, mainly MEA and EgyptAir. The name Syrian in Arabic is written in the worst font available. They could've picked a better one.

I prefer this livery to the current one, perhaps a splash of green & blue but you can not beat the MEA title & red cheat line.

I agree, the old MEA colours looked great, especially on the A310, but also on those smoky 707s. The new colours (both MEA and Syrianair) are a little boring. At least, the new Syrianair reminds me of Sabena  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
