I'm with you. At first I was not head over heels for it. It has however grown on me significantly. Some liveries look better on different size airframes. I think this one looks nice on all of AA's airframes.

N921NN (Anyone know how/if this will be repainted? Simply painting the bottom like they did with the Astrojet?)

35 remaining 752s, one in legacy livery; N679AN, and one more should be retiring shortly, to get them down to 34 by year end.

Interesting... maybe they’ll keep 752 N679AN in the clAAsic livery instead of a 738, similar to how they kept a 321 in the last US livery instead of a 319? Then they can retire a different 752 by year end.

Unfortunately no. N679AN/5EL scheduled to ferry to ROW for retirement on 12/5. Mostly flying out of MIA up until then.

Couldn't "new paint" in the case of N921NN just mean that they're painting the bottom, per specifications, but keeping it retro, otherwise?

Certain parts of the 737 fuselage are made out of different materials that can't be polished, such as the cargo doors.

The question remains: Will N921NN be fully painted or will it return as the ClAAsic heritage aircraft? Guess we'll soon find out!

Wow - amazing. Bittersweet, as I always thought the 757 looked particularly good in bare metal - and, of course, the 757 is just such a great looking aircraft, anyway. But on the flip side, I also think the 757 is one of the best looking types in AA's new paint scheme, too.

We don't know if they are (unless someone has inside info). If they are, it would be N921NN, which is currently at the paint shop and was the last 737 delivered in the old livery.

IIRC , -921 is supposed to remain in the clAAsic livery, thought I wonder if the old red American title will be replaced
with the new grey font and flight symbol line the other heritage jets.

Aren't they cutting the 767s down to 17? With the 345 fire, they may keep an extra 1993-1995 unit or cut down to 16.

Eventually they're all going to go away. Whether they keep 17x however many, they won't keep them, especially with the prospects of the 797 on the horizon.

The 797 is a decade away at least.

I'm betting AA swaps their A359 orders for either A338neos or A332 ceos to replace those remaining 763's

Or additional 789s. They still have 58 more 787s on option. I don't think that they will wait till the 797 comes out before they retire their last 767. However, I am persuaded that the 9 youngest 767s (the ones dating from the early 2000s) will stay in the fleet past 2020. I would expect the final flight to arrive in MIA in 2023 or 2024, if they don't decide to accelerate the retirement of those.
