Eventually they're all going to go away. Whether they keep 17x however many, they won't keep them, especially with the prospects of the 797 on the horizon.

The 797 is a decade away at least.

I'm betting AA swaps their A359 orders for either A338neos or A332 ceos to replace those remaining 763's

I'm more inclined to believe they will get 788s or 789s to replace them, and convert the A359s to A321s for boosting capacity on routes like JFK-SEA, ORD-SEA, JFK-PHX, IAD-LAX, etc..

Yeah, we’re not taking the A350, it almost seems certain. AA, last checked, wasn’t even interest in the A338, but that could change.

Addition A332 with RR engines could be another alternative, other than buying the A321LR.

More 787s for us, maybe even the -10!

The 332 makes sense so they'd go with the pmUS 322's already on property , but I'd LOVE to see the 78J in AA livery :)

AA is rapidly coming to the end of the firm deliveries for the 787's on order. From the original order AA has all 20 787-8's and 14 of the 20 787-9's. They have 58 options still open with Boeing on the 787. I think this debate will have an answer sooner rather than later.

I think whatever widebody they decide on the order will be a big one like 100 airframes. They want commonality and way less subfleets going forward, they have made that very clear.

The numbers would seem to be very much in favor of just taking all of the options remaining on the 787s. Something like 20 787-8s; 20 787-9s; and 18 787-10s would allow for replacement of the 75s over the Atlantic; 767s; A330-300s; and eventually the A330-200s and 777-200s on routes where the 777s capabilities are not needed. This would also help streamline fleet and synchronize passenger experience.

A correction to my post, AA just took delivery of 787-9 # 15 on Tuesday Dec 5th.

We don't know if they are (unless someone has inside info). If they are, it would be N921NN, which is currently at the paint shop and was the last 737 delivered in the old livery.

IIRC , -921 is supposed to remain in the clAAsic livery, thought I wonder if the old red American title will be replaced
with the new grey font and flight symbol line the other heritage jets.

Then again, 3JP (N905NN) kept the titles that correspond to the Astrojet livery because they already say “American”. I really hope 3KG is just going for a touch-up and that we haven’t seen the end of the clAAsic livery.

5EL was the last domestic LAA 757 left in the fleet.

Yes, Air Whiskey is still operating N410AW for American Eagle in USX paint. With the retirement of the Piedmont DH8-1s last week all the other USX planes are parked.

It's a milestone day! The final remaining mainline plane (excluding the md-80s) in the clAAsic livery is scheduled to depart for the paint shop this afternoon:

N864NN / 3GV
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AAL9664

Congrats to all involved on the successful completion of the repainting program! If anyone has eyes on the return of N921NN from the paint shop to see if AA retained one clAAsic heritage livery, let us know!

A little more than that. A year and a half, if not two years. The last MD-80 is now scheduled to leave the fleet end of 2019.

I spotted one in YYZ about two months ago.

There are a few OO CR2s floating around still in the old Eagle livery. There is also one ZW CR2 (410) that will not be repainted.

I'm not sure; it looks like a data error to me since the overview table shows 8 of 12 completed, but the specific table for the ERJ140 shows 9 of 12 completed.

Based strictly upon aircraft movement, I now show 14 E140s back in service with Envoy. Of these 14, I show 9 having spent a week at AMA, which is a paint facility, and a week is about right for paint.

Surprised they're keeping so many 50 seat RJ's. Seeing how aggressively they're trashing the 757 and 767 fleets, most for which are around the same age as the RJ's in question, I would have thought they would have added more new E jets :?
Stuck at age 15 thanks to the certification date of the A320-200 and my parents' decision to postpone having a kid by 3 years. At least there's Dignitas...

Was not able to get a picture, but was able to get a clear view of it passing a bit north of my place and can confirm that it has retained it's bare metal livery. I was not able to see whether any details have changed, but perhaps a spotter closer to the airport will catch her.

Geez, some people have too much time on their hands to worry about when airliners are painted.
I'm an airplane nut myself and retired from AA and what and when it's painted is at the bottom of my worry list.

Looks like they did the same as with the Astrojet. Painted the bottom, engines, etc. but left everything else the same.

I can imagine it having the new American logo while keeping the metallic livery just like what they did with the US Airways heritage livery with the A321.

Based strictly upon aircraft movement, I now show 14 E140s back in service with Envoy. Of these 14, I show 9 having spent a week at AMA, which is a paint facility, and a week is about right for paint.

Update; 14 in service, 10 painted.

Do all the remaining 752s have the international F/J cabin? Or are there some with the 6 rows of domestic recliner seats still flying around the system?

All the LAA 757s have the international first class cabins. Not sure about the LUS 757s.

That's good.

All the LUS 757s are now in the 75H configuration, 12F/172Y, which is currently absent from seatguru. I cannot find an interior pic of the F cabin but can report the Main Cabin of N200UU had very limited legroom.

Seatuguru is having a hard time with the AA planes. I noticed that they still show 772 with F cabin as "most common", and they don't have any seat maps for 772 Premium Economy retrofits.

The problem is, I can't find the seat maps anywhere else, either.

The LUS 757 F cabin has the same seats as the LAA B738 (with PTV), 319 and 321 F cabins just without the TVs..

Speaking of which, when AA removes PTVs from narrowbodies like the 32B, will they keep them in the F seats?

Negative. When the PTVs are gone from the MC they will be gone from F too.

These must be the last two 800s still to be delivered .I believe that the deliveries of the non-MAX 737s are now concluded. According to flightaware, these are regular 800 variants, not MAX.

You are correct. These are the final two 737-800 planes, all 737s from here on are MAX variants.
