Attn DFW Spotters:

My son called me about 12:45 to report that a very low-flying AA aircraft with landing gear down flew over his office at EDS in Plano. The westbound plane then banked severely to the RIGHT, which would take it away from DFW. Since he is familiar with the aircraft patterns, he was quite sure that something was quite out-of-the-ordinary here. Any ideas?

What aircraft type?

If it was a widebody, most likely it was a maintenence flight from AFW (Alliance Airport in FW) where AA does D-Checks on their 777 fleet.

Just a guess

Definitely not a wide-body. No wing engines, he said. he thought it might be a 727 since its fuselage appeared wider than an MD-80's. And AA still has a few 727's aloft, does it not?
