How Would You "Re-Design" Air Canada?

Thu Feb 14, 2002 6:33 am

If you had the chance to do so, how would you re-vamp
Air Canada? Livery? Interiors? Uniforms? Schedules? Pax In-Flight services?, etc.

Personally, I would re-name this carrier
"Canadian Airlines" (not "Canadi>n", mind you).

You'll notice I would re-introduce some ex-Canadi>n/CP elements. I found CP's designs/ideas rather classy and timeless.

Livery: Ditch the all white fuselage. Navy Blue fuselage, with light grey underbelly. "Canadian Airlines" would be in bright Gold capital lettering. I would retain the Maple Leaf on the tail, only make it 3-coloured: Green/Red/Gold, symbolizing the season changes. I would also bring back the "Empress of" names for the aircraft. Example: "Empress of Canada", "Empress of Italy", etc.

Re-name Executive/Executive First Class. I would use a title such as "Canadian Empress Class".

Interiors: Seats: navy blue with gold headrests.
Enough of this GREEN!!

Cabin Crew/Pax Ground Services Uniforms:
1. Navy Blue uniforms (skirt/pants) with Gold scarves
with multicoloured Maple Leafs.
2. Gold uniforms (skiry/pants) with Navy Blue scarves
with multi-coloured Maple Leafs.

In short, I would like to see a lot of style and class evident at the new "Canadian Airlines". So much so, that this re-vamped Canadian carrier would take its rightful place as one of the worlds premier airlines.

Anyway, just fantasizing. Any Canadian Boys/Gals out there with their own ideas about a new Air Canada??

I would get rid of Milton. That's just for a start, it seems like he is just to arrogant for that position now. They need someone who would stop finger pointing and would get into the grunt work.

The name could stay the same however. Aircraft liveries should only be redone when the money is available, all current funds should be put towards better causes. But for a new livery, I believe I saw one here a long time ago, same livery except with a green belly, same color as the tail, that looked classy.

One of the first things I would do is get rid of the outdated Canadian equipment, goodbye 732's! People like being on new equipment.

I would also bring back those commercials they had on a while ago, very professional and conveyed a good image for the airline.

Those are just a few of my thoughts.

Milton of course would be gone at my new Canadian
Airlines. That goes without saying!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

In terms of money available for re-vamping, etc, my thread is merely to inspire imagination, in terms of how you would envision the quintessential Canadian carrier.

Also, would love to see B-777-200/300 series!! They would look smashing in the Navy Blue/Gold livery.

Aaaaah, to dream.

Write Air Canada in bigger letters, so that it stretches across the entire fuselage. Arrogant and huge, it'll be great! Of course, I'll do that after they cause WestJet's failure and have a 100% market share. Include in the company SOPs "No aircraft shall operate in Canadian Domestic Airpsace with passenger name David Collenette on board".
buhh bye

HQ in Toronto.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Here's how I'd do the livery:

Fuselage--use the Proud Wings blue with red cheatline that gets fatter around the nose.

Titles: Keep the Air Canada titles, I like it the font.

Tail: Tango style. The background is red, with a lighter red (almost pink) for the rondel (in the same sense that Tango is purple with a lighter red rondel.

Picture that, I think it looks classy.

I'd love to see a tail like tango only in red. Then have a cheatline in red with a forest green under carriage.

...and get rid of Milton.

Coincidently, I was trying to imagine a 777 in A/C colours. Perhaps, even the "Proud Wings" livery. Maybe, someone with the ability (Air Orange?) could do a rendition of a trip7 in "proud wings" colours for us to see?

Nevermind political correctness - Envision using your turn signals!

Focus on YVR, YWG & YYZ. Why YWG? Smack dab in the middle of Canada. Could be used as an A319/CRJ hub connecting east and west. Fleet consists of CRJ-A318/319/320/321-762/763-A330/340. Dump Tango.
And something else all Majors should consider: First Class with the back of the aircraft split 50/50 between standard coach and no-frills coach. (yes I know there's not much difference these days but service could be split between snacks/meals and beverages in standard coach and "you want it you pay for it onboard" coach.)
Next Up: STL-MIA-GCM-MIA-STL. Fun in the December sun! :santahat:

I personally don't mind the current livery but I loved the old red and white colours. I thought those colours made it known that its an airplane from Canada, seeing how Canada's national colours is red and white and also resembbled the Canadian flag.
I would keep the pilot's uniform the same except for the red maple leaf on the hat. I would change that to a gold maple leaf so it would blend in with the rest of the uniform. I always liked black and gold pilot's uniform. The Flight Attendants's uniform has to be changed from that "greenish" colour to maybe a black with a coloured scarf.
Oh yeah!! I would probably add some B737NGs to the fleet. They just have to many A319s and A320s for my viewing.

Here's what I'd do with Air Canada:

1. Replace the current tail design with a stylized Canada goose logo with the wings filling the fin and it's body just below the fin, on the fuselage. The Canada goose logo is blue.

2. Have all a/c painted with navy blue on the bottom half of the fuselage, and a red cheater that thickens towards the nose.

3. Get rid of the "Air Canada" title - and replace with "Canadian". Same goes for the regional, but with "Regional" added.

4. Sell all the Airbus widebodies - and acquire 777-200's and 777-300's instead. Keep the 762/763 fleet. And the 744's too (but not the Combis!).
5. Keep all the Airbus narrowbodies, but get rid of all 737-200's and DC-9's and the F28 fleet. Replace them with A318's and 717-200's

6. Relegate all AC CRJ-200's to the regional(s).

7. Move the HQ to Calgary. Announce huge layoffs in Montreal, and at the same time, start an aggressive hiring campaign in Western Canada.

8. Fire Uncle Milty and his cronies. Replace them with not-so-arrogant CEO's who really know how to run an airline.

Does this "new" image sound familiar?  Big thumbs up
