Delta removes planned 717 Los Angeles – Vancouver S17 service
Posted 4 April 2017 08:30
Delta Airlines in the last few weeks updated planned Los Angeles – Vancouver service, for summer 2017 season. From 01MAY17 to 25AUG17, 1 of 2 daily service will be operated by Mainline Airbus A319, replacing Compass Airlines Embraer E175 aircraft. Planned A319 operational schedule as follow.

DL2929 LAX0915 – 1215YVR 319 6
DL2929 LAX0920 – 1220YVR 319 x6

DL2928 YVR1402 – 1658LAX 319 x3
DL2928 YVR1404 – 1700LAX 319 3

Also in recent schedule update, the Skyteam member has removed planned Saturday-only Boeing 717 service for Los Angeles – Vancouver route, previously scheduled in July and August 2017

I had a chance to fly on 1 of the ex-Air Tran machines that DL had acquired from ATL to MSY, and the cabins looked nice and refreshed, and given the schedules that DL keeps them on, is or was there was enough slack in the 717 operation to have 1 operate LAX-YVR?

Well that just sucks. Oh well, I'll just have to continue taking the AS flight out of YLW and connecting in SEA to get on the wonderful 717.

I'm confused. a 717 is also mainline equipment. So going from 717 to 319 isn't much of (if any) upgrade.
Is just me, or is flying not as much fun anymore?

I don't exactly get why the 717 is more desirable than the A319 for a given route, either -- the A319s have been refreshed with pivoting overhead bins (more space for larger bags) as well as AVOD at every seat. For a three-hour flight, it's nice to have the option to watch a movie without having to balance a mobile device.

The 717 esc system is horrible on the ears...

The refurbished A319's are very nice and way better than the loud 717's. I understand the 2-3 seating in coach can be an advantage but the A319s have the latest in-seat entertainment, huge overhead bins, mood lighting and are just a nicer environment in general. I've flown in the 717 from LAX-LAS many times in first and that plane is so noisy, at least up front, that I have purposely booked away from it when possible.

The 2x3 seating arrangement of the DC-9 is way nicer than 3x3 on either a 737 or A319/20/21. I don't mind plopping my iPad on the pull-down tray. Not that I ever fly this route though

Oops... I meant 717.

I just can't get used to a DC-9 being called a "Boeing 717" :D

Loud? 717? The front of a 717 is the quietest ride in the narrowbody fleet at Delta these days.

Pretty sure that the 717, even as an MD95, was never on the original DC9's certificate.

Has YVR ever seen scheduled 717 service? I can't see any record of such. If not scheduled service, has YVR ever seen the 717?

Did YVR not receive seasonal B717 from TWA on STL-YVR when it existed?

Want to try again? DC-9 thru MD-95 are all on the same TCDS, A6WE...

I think the MD-90 is quieter up front than the 717.

I've noticed DL bring more and more A319's to the west coast.

I'm looking at an A6WE (rev 30) that stops at DC-9-87, then continues MD-88, MD-90-30, 717-200.

I'm not talking about engine noise. There is a very loud sound that comes from the air ducts. So loud at times it's difficult to have a conversation. It's most noticeable on the left side of the aircraft in F.

The loudest two places on the 717 are the aft F/A jumpseat/lavs area and the forward galley.

I'm really just nitpicking here but why do you contradict your first sentence with your second sentence?

They don’t contradict themselves, they just don’t understand how to quote.

I hope you meant 2018 and not 2017. 2017 is gone now!

This thread is 9 months old and now out of date (talking about summer 2017 equipment on a route), I'm not even really sure it still needs to be open.
