GKirk: Which airport are you talking about? Zurich? Yeah they are using B777 on that route right now, but supposedly, from April 1, 2002 onwards, MAS is going to use B747. However, now they had changed their mind and use the B777 instead. This means that there are quite a significant reduction in capacity for MAS at Zurich. They used to operate a turnaround 4 times B777 weekly services. Now, it's only 3 times weekly, plus it has onward flight to Rome. I do believe that it's quite hard to get seats out of Zurich during the summer (pre Sept. 11).
As far as Zurich Airport is concerned, I heard that only the B777 is not that suitable, but of course, airlines still can use B777 at Zurich. I am not too sure about the reason though, but that's just what I heard. All the other aircraft is fine like the B747, B767 and the A340.
Swissgabe: I totally agree with you that by arriving at 9:10 am, there isn't much connection traffic left, especially for passengers flying onwards to Sydney and Melbourne. There's only like 40 minutes connection time and I don't think MAS will allow that short connection time. Did you hear anything further about MAS's flight to Rome where it might be routed via Frankfurt instead of Zurich? Thanx!
