PC is continuing to build up its 320 fleet.
I personally find it interesting that they already have 8-9 320neo's delivered.
Anyone has some further info regarding dispatch reliability, route network and/or operational performance compared to their 738's or even earlier delivered regular 320's.

Did I understand it correct that all 738's will ultimatively be exchanged for 320's?. If so, this would leave the 738 in Turkey only with TK/AJA, XQ and mainly charter operators. The big ones like KK and 8Q have an Airbus-only fleet and so does FHY. Not to mention TK's huge Airbus narrowbody numbers of course...

They want to be all-Airbus by 2024/2025 but who knows, if they grow even further it might make sense to them to operate the 737MAX as well, especially if pricing is right. They seem to have absolutely no problem with the 737, especially since they still have 5 on order from last year.

Here's an interview where PG CEO Nane talked about the airlines' future (fleet) plans.

2019: 14
2020: 13
2021: 8 x 320s, 5 x 321s

I was wondering why they ordered the B737 MAX 9 anyway? Why build up a sub-fleet of 10 aircraft? IMHO I could think of changing that order to MAX 8 and instead order some A321 NEO LRs.

I can see TK converting some MAX 8 orders into the larger MAX 9.

Maybe not quite. For example a DUB-IST-ATH was 30KG and now showing 23KG for October travel. So unless they intend to amend it the rules have not fully reverted back. It is a shame if they play around with the allowances as that is a key benefit to the likes of migrant workers who choose airlines who offer 1: Best fares and 2: Baggage allowance. Those are the two most influential aspects when they choose who to fly with.

Hi all
Does anybody know range of TK's 332 and 333s. According to wikipedia TK is operating longest flights of both types (PTY and ATL)
Is there a payload restriction or not
I think if they are not ordering new aircraft for long and thin routes, they should consider refurbishment of the 5 ER 332 (JNA-JNE) but i never heard such an idea

-When I look for JFK-IST flights; one out of four choices is:
JFK-BOG on Avianca , 3:17 hrs. layover in BOG, connects to TK800 BOG-IST
-When I look for LAX-IST, TK suggests this flight:
TK9410 LAX to San Salvador on LACSA, 2:10 layover, connecting to TK9417 San Salvador-Toronto on LACSA; 7:40 layover, connecting to TK18 Toronto-IST. Just why???

Maybe you sort by lowest fare? At least for the BOG-IST flight, TK almost always has incredibly low fares there, so it could, in fact, work out cheaper perhaps than the nonstop JFK-IST on certain dates, depending on availability on the two different flights?

Not searching by lowest fare, just fare search on TK site:
-When you look for a fare between JFK-IST, BOG connected flight comes up as one of 4 choices. The rest are the 3 TK JFK-IST non-stops.
-When you look for a fare between LAX-IST, the San Salvador-Toronto connected flight comes up as 2nd choice below LAX-IST non-stop on TK.

I am planning to fly from BKK to OPO through IST on TK, and have read some bad reviews about the airport. I still want to take those flights and wondered what you would recommend for connection time in IST. The current plan is about three hours, coming in on TK69 and leaving on TK1451. Any other advice is welcome as well.

Maybe they make suggestions for those who want to do a mileage run ;)

BTW I only get TK 9/10 when I try to price a LAX-IST flight on the TK website (international website).

IST is a fairly crowded airport, at almost all hours (maybe less congested between 1:00 - 6:00 a.m.), but you should have no difficulties or mishaps especially when you remain at the airside. Three (3) hrs. transit time is pretty much acceptable and you will not suffer much to find ways to kill time for that duration. Security wise it is a very very safe terminal now!

Interesting, I think it all depends where you log in from, also new site vs. the old sit. LAX flights are listed from "Amadeus", it looks/feels very different from what I usually see on the regular site.
Mileage run, ha ha... Most definitely. I don't need any miles but yes I have been looking for fun just in case :)

TK is shifting quite a bit of capacity to its Anadolujet brand with one 738 already moved there and at least another 5 to follow soon (per planespotters.net).
I was wondering if, with the opening of the new airport, there has been any talk of a low cost long haul branch at TK. All the existing and upcomming long haul routes on LCCs will surely also challenge TK especially when they start to look east as well with the US East Coast being the main focus at the moment. I imagine it would do great with routes that have trashy yields anyway and might even improve those through a lower cost structure. Then again it reamins to be seen how successful low cost long haul will turn out to be and there's certainly no good in reacting too fast but they don't want to be the last European airline to have their own low cost long haul division either.

For your information:
I like to buy "E" fare tickets from TK to get 100% of the miles flown.
I realized that the price of these tickets do not change over time. I bought a ticket 12 hours before the flight and paid $1500 round trip JFK-IST. It would have been the same price if I bought it a month in advance. So, no need to hurry.
On the other hand, if I were to buy the lowest fare class ticket last month it would have been around $800, if bought the same day of the flight the price is up to $$1250.

A quick update on TK in CCS : when dropping off a close relative today at CCS for a TK flight, my relative was the only Business class passenger among 37 (!!) passengers boarding at CCS. And when my relative wasn't handed an invitation to the Business Class lounge at CCS, I asked why, and the lady at the check-in counter explained that TK had cancelled the contract with the lounge for lack of passengers. Doesn't look too good at all for TK at CCS...

Today TK2, JFK-IST, was operated by -JJG "Yildiz", 6 years young. Around 290 pax, close to 83% Load with 11 FA's. Due to weather, close to 2 hour delay and a very bumpy first 2.5 hours of flight with no service. There was a flying chef on board and as far as I am concerned the service quality and quantity of food at Y was pretty much what I've been used to. Bathrooms kept clean.
As you all know I can be critical of TK, but today's flight they did a very good job trying to serve two full meals, first one starting 2+ hours into flight due to moderate turbulence.
It was nice to park at a gate. Passport control, Customs and traffic in general was not congested. Nice welcome to Istanbul for me :)

Dire numbers. For J class passengers even if only a handful TK should either just pay the lounge per passenger or offer a food and beverage voucher for around $25-30 .

TK becomes the 24th UATP card issuer. Turkish Airlines Corporate Club Card will be issued by Yapi Kredi Bank for corporate clients. For those not familiar with UATP (Universal Air Travel Plan) , its an airline owned payment network accepted by thousands of merchants for air, rail, hotel and travel agency payments, and quite popular in the corporate world for business travelers.

No airport in in Turkey is formally authorized for category-F aircraft for regular service. In dire emergency A380 could certainly land, but it likely very much up to company policy also where airlines opt to divert to.

Aircraft like A380s are limited to something like 140 approved commercial airfields that have designated capability (runway bearing, taxiways, gates, ground handling support) for the model.

The new airport in Istanbul will be Cat-F ready however.

I think this week was the big media announcement with participation of Thai government. Lots of news stories in last 96-hours about it. I suspect having IATA event in Thailand served as good opportunity to bring together TK executives and Thai officials.

There likely is more to the story, as CCS is listed as airport with lounge access in GDS.

I suspect there is more to the story. Handling in CCS is challenging already including many payment issues.

I wonder how many TK pax actually sign up?

Its not matter of TK pax signing up, but the existing 2 million TSA Pre✓ members will have access to the program when flying TK.

TK becomes only the 8th non US-Canada-Mexico carrier in the program.

I suspect there is more to the story. Handling in CCS is challenging already including many payment issues.

And still, AF, TP, IB, CU, UX, CM, AV all still manage to have lounge access, supposedly with the same challenges. The truth is probably that TK was quite cluless when entering CCS on 3 weeks' notice, which also is shown by their dire passenger numbers and trashy yields.

Here are some insider info from TK:
- Pegasus has been sold to investers from Qatar (QR ?). Announcement will be by end of summer.
- TK is selling one of its MRO facility (in IST or SAW, again to Qatar?). It will be used to finance TK's new MRO facility at 3rd Airport which will be the biggest in the world. By the way TK refused advice of some foreign consultants to setup a distributed network of MRO facilities at different airports of Turkey and decided to go for a single very large MRO operation at new airport.
- TK is recovering and expected to be in plus by mid 2017.
- TK's general assembly meeting is being delayed due to preparations related to delivery of its shares to newly established Turkish Investment Fund.
- TK is in search of new LLC model to answer Eurowings of LH. Sales of XQ is not considered. Ways to strengthen AJ is on the table. Intercontinantal operations combined with Haj operations using WB ?

Keep in mind both PC and TK are publicly traded companies. There is zero chance a company has been "sold" and they are not releasing the news until summer. Would be criminal to effect such a transaction without public, legal and stock market notifications.

Also remember Turkey like most nations has foreign ownership laws, so any investment by QR would only be as a minority owner in an airline.

I think today's mess in LHR and LGW should have helped TK to get their London flights fill up, anybody has info on TK's load factors from LHR today? I do not believe that it is a system malfunction, after all types of cyber attacks recently it is too naive too expect public to believe in this bs. Also an airline like BA should have had a back up system and it seems they do not not..Too bad

Because its base is Tel Aviv, not AMS. The airline is called Corendon Europe and will fly charters TLV - HER/TXL and some flights within Europe (I've seen charters to Lamezia, Zakynthos, Amsterdam and Bratislava). I read that NAP, MUC and NUE are also planned, but don't see them in the schedules (though they seem to fly from Malta as well). Thus new base, new airline to ensure it wouldn't mix too much in the Corendon Dutch Airlines financial figures.

One of the most absurd things I've ever seen. Video of 1453 trucks in formation on the tarmac of the new Istanbul airport to commemorate Istanbul's conquest:
