Turkish President just concluded a visit to India. Awaiting any news about air services bioateral discussions. The only mention found is in this article:

He also stressed on further developing collaboration between Turkish Airline and Air India.

I don't expect any news on an expanded ASA to Turkey, since there's zero operators from the India side.
Incredible India!

Agreed, I don't think you will see any changes with the India/Turkey ASA. With the rumored FRA-BOM AI flight, AI is firmly in bed with LH for intra Europe connections. As far as NA, AI has clearly signaled its going the nonstop route. Plus I am sure AI doesn't want TK dumping cheap seats from India to help keep TK's NA routes filled while the full laptop and Turkey political stuff plays out.

AirAsia India registers 57% growth in Q1 2017:

which is a vieled way of saying their fleet size increased from 6 to 9 in 1 year, along with load factor.

I guess it was from Chennai airport. This pic is atleast 2-3 years old. It was a big translation mistake.

KLM is seriously considering an AMS-BOM flight:

and this is an article which I don't really understand. While Alliance Air is expanding, but I don't understand how would it be ever even competing with IndiGo..

Bagdogra (IXB), serving the city of Siliguri in West Bengal, North Bengal, neighboring Sikkim, East Nepal and NE areas of Bihar, just got the major airport tag with after it saw a 40% jump in YoY traffic in 2016-17 (1,524,516 passengers). This was primarily due to surge in tourism in North Bengal & Sikkim in recent years backed by zero ATF surcharge at IXB. Yes, this airport has the cheapest ATF in India for many years now. It is now connected by 8 airlines serving Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Paro and Bangkok.

Outdated terminal infrastructure has been the single major deterrent to further expansion coupled with lack of instrument landing (which is hopefully about to change soon) and the blatant inability of the State to procure land for expansion.

IXB is the gateway to Darejeeling and Sikkim, and there are still no non-stop flights from many cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad etc. I was looking for flights and there aren't many flights from South India, with flights going through Delhi, Kolkatta etc. I wish the airport at IXB is expanded and more flights are made available there.

Delhi Airport handled 11.1 million transit passengers last year:

Quite an achievement, though I think most of them were domestic transit passengers.

Lucknow needs more direct flights from other cities.

What's noteworthy is that DEL handles more transit traffic than total traffic of most airports in India.

Not at all surprised that KTM is responsible for the bulk of international transit pax through DEL. With excellent connections all day with KTM, DEL acts as a very good feeder for Nepali workers traveling to the middle east and European tourists visiting Nepal.

Another statistic that would be interesting is top transit routes via DEL between a domestic airport and an international. I'm assuming some of them would be ATQ, BLR and CCU routes.

I am a bit confused about KL's AMS-BOM flight. Assuming its like AF's & 9W's CDG-BOM flights, what is the use of offering two flights at basically the same time on the same route? They both do it between AMS and DEL, but DEL at least has a much wider catchment area and less ME3 competition. It seems like KL and AF just want to fill their US/Canada planes with pax from India. I actually liked 9W's evening departure from CDG as it gave you more options but it didn't really connect well with NA. That said, as a DL Diamond I welcome any expansion by them to India. At some point I would like to know why DL is charging the highest redemption rate of 120k miles for partner flights Us-India (higher than US-DXB or US-SIN) but that's off topic!

With only 2 flights/week on this short haul route, it must be unprofitable for PIA to deploy capacity at such low frequency. The low number of visas being issued from the Indian side could be one reason.

Its still sad. BOM and KHI have a long history of being very linked. I know things change. But it seems the link is basically gone to history.

So this cancellation means the only surviving air link between India and Pakistan is a biweekly Lahore-Delhi service isn't it? And does anybody know when Air India stopped flying to Pakistan?

Unique case. VT-JGX (MSN 34805) colliding with VT-JGY (MSN 34806). The least possible difference in MSNs.

Any other cases like this?

Its not consecutive Line Numbers though... LN are 2360 and 2404 respectively.

Until the visa situation improves, there is very little potential to improve viability of these flights. The main potential is between KHI-BOM - mainly because of historical links between the 2 cities. At the peak, PIA sent A310's twice weekly and a 747 on other 2 days, while IC had a A320 3 weekly. Anecdotal: I know a number of Parsi friends in BOM who have F&F in KHI and make the trip once or twice a year, usually via DXB.

The LHE-DEL flight is with an ATR anyway (FWIR).

Considering it only has 3 77Ls, I'm assuming it is putting the 77W on this route.

JAL and ANA used to fly 747s on domestic routes. QR flies 359s and 788s between DOH and DXB, while EK flies 77W. Empty weight is meaningless, as long as AI is able to fill the plane and make profits.

if you see those airlines and routes don't have much competition. Here in India however we have 6 competing airines, all of them have much more efficient aircraft.

Not only empty weight, I think B77W's per passenger fuel cost is also much greater than an A320Neo.

More details emerge about SG's low cost long haul plans:

NEW DELHI: Flying to western Europe for a summer break may not remain just a dream if SpiceJet's plans for medium to long haul international flights work out. The low cost carrier (LCC) is currently working out the economies of this model and says return fares could be about Rs 25,000 to places like London, Paris and Amsterdam in all-economy seating wide body aircraft. Return fares on these sectors is mostly upwards of Rs 40,000 on full service Indian and foreign airlines, especially in peak travel seasons.

The airline has made headway with those plans and shared some key features with TOI. "SpiceJet will follow the same low cost/no frills model on its long haul routes as it does on its domestic and short haul international sectors where passengers pay for additional services like meals, seat selection, priority check-in, priority boarding and excess baggage. However, unlike some other international LCCs, the first (check-in) bag would be free of charge," said a SpiceJet official.

A leading international long haul LCC, for instance charges $32 for a check-in bag of up to 20 kg — one way -- on its India-Southeast Asia flights. So if SpiceJet is able to offer this service at no extra cost, that will be significant saving for flyers.

"SpiceJet plans to have 350-380 seats on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It would be an all-economy class configuration with few select rows of SpiceMax seats offering extra leg room. Full service Air India has 256 seats on its Dreamliners with 18 in business class. (With this seating capacity) if we can cap return fares at levels of about Rs 25,000, many would prefer a European vacation when a domestic return ticket can cost the same during peak season," said another SpiceJet official, adding that the LCC is looking at London, Birmingham, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Zurich as the possible destinations. It will offer in flight entertainment on its flights from later this year.

National carrier Air India will launch flights to three new destinations in the US as well as to Stockholm, Nairobi and Tel Aviv this year, its chief Ashwani Lohani said today. Making it the fifth non-stop destination in the United States, a direct service would start to Washington from July 7, followed by a flight to Los Angeles from September 1 and then to Dallas.

“To Washington from July 7, Stockholm from August 15 and Los Angeles from September 1 to be followed by Tel Aviv, Dallas and Nairobi sometime later during the year 2017 itself. Air India spreads its wings far and wide,” Lohani said in a Facebook post.

Well now both AI and SG are screwed. May be AI should order 50 x Do228s before 6E jumps in.

This is a drastic departure from their single aircraft only philosophy. Could it be that RCS guidelines forced their hand? Anyway good news from small airports across the country.

Also interesting that 6E hopes to end FY18 with a fleet of 170 A320s (ceo+neo), meaning addition of 39 aircraft to its fleet for the year. This would be the largest net addition of aircraft in a year for IndiGo without even accounting for the ATR deliveries.
