Looking at UA on SFO-SIN the typical "in air time" is ~15hr 30min. or less. Extrapolating this out to LAX-SIN gives 16hr 15min. For 249 seats the payload will be about 27.4t, TOW at 251.4t (MTOW 254011kg) So on most days they will be able to do it without blocking seats at takeoff.[/quote]

Thanks for that great information. Hopefully that will set all the naysayers straight on its capabilities. 789 is an absolute machine and this is exactly the type of route it was built for.

Is this the Paris Air Show, or the all Boeing Air Show? Seems all we hear are Boeing orders, nothing from Airbus. Just curious

Expect to see it being Boeing & state owned airline dominated this year - lots of countries (including China) using it to get on Trump's good side.

Wouldn't it be best to keep the topic and discussions on this thread strictly order and news related?

In that way, those of us making a quick check-in over here can see only the relevant information we actually want to see and as is stated in the thread title.

I have no problem with people discussing anything they want to discuss, just not here. It clutters up the thread and relevant order information and news gets lost in a sea of irrelevant (to the topic) replies.

My apologies if I sound harsh. That is not my intention. Just a friendly suggestion.
Never be proud. Always be grateful.

So, the important question is - where is Randy Tinseth? He hasn't posted on his blog since early April...and is usually blogging regularly prior to the Paris show. Hope he's OK!

He's definitely alive and well - I saw him walking one of the nature trails at Boeing Longacres campus in Renton while talking with a coworker last week. 100% chance he'll be highly visible in Paris

Getting leasing company orders is an important sign of potential success. It shows that they expect sufficient and long-term demand from a variety of airlines. It also means that they consider it sufficiently versatile to move from one customer to another if necessary.

It appears there are more conversions from MAX-8 to -10 than from MAX-9 now. So, maybe those airlines/lessors knew something was coming way before we did. It's clear they needed some something larger than the -8, but didn't order the -9 anyway. Could be telling.

Resale values of the MAX-9 will be falling. Would like to see what the big MAX-9 customers like Lion or UA will do eventually. Lion can't get out anymore, UA can.

Hold your horse, we are Day 1 of PAS 2017, Spicejet order can easily topped by someone else.
142 MAX8 was placed by Spicejet previously.
New order 20 B737 MAX10.
Conversion 20 MAX8 to MAX10,
So the final order will now be 122 MAX8 and 40 MAX10. By the way, the B737MAX10 order is LOI, not firm order.

I understood the TUI order like that as well but somehow that doesn't match the information in the last paragraph: "The Group also has 50 options for the 737 MAX and has converted 10 of these to the 737 MAX 10. The Group will take delivery of its first 737 MAX aircraft in January 2018." - from the press release.

So 10 of the MAX 10 orders were previously options? :?: That would make only 8 conversions from the existing 70 orders. Am I the only one who's confused by that?

More conversions than net orders it seems.

For reference, I just posted this in the 737 MAX 10 thread showing the breakdown of announcements so far:

BOC Aviation
10x new MAX 10s (MoU)

GECAS
20x conversions to MAX 10 from unspecified MAX variant. (Order)

CDB Aviation Lease Finance
6x conversions to MAX 10 from MAX 8, 4x new MAX 10s (MoU)

TUI Group
18x conversions to MAX 10 from unspecified MAX variant (Order)

Tibet Financial Leasing
20x new MAX 8s and 10s (MoU, breakdown not specified)

SpiceJet
20x conversions to MAX 10 from MAX 8, 20x new MAX 10s (MoU)

So on the basis of the 6 orders that have been announced, it is 34 (plus an unspecified number between 1 and 19 from Tibet Financial Leasing) new MAX 10s, and 64 conversions (of which 26 are from MAX 8 and 38 are from an unspecified variant). The 38 conversions from an unspecified variant are firm, the rest are MoUs.

TUI Group Announce Selection of 18 737 MAX 10s:

Note: this is a conversion:

TUI Group already had 70 unfilled orders for the 737 MAX and will convert 18 of these existing orders to the 737 MAX 10.

I think it's a bit more straightforward than that: 18 of their 70 orders have been converted to be for the MAX 10, and 10 of their 50 options have likewise been converted. So it is 18 firm and 10 options.

Yup, after re-reading it I agree. Its 10 of 50 options for the 737 MAX 10. Wondering how many MAX 9s are left of their former 20.

QR firms up 737 MAX order:

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/artic ... -a-438451/

The airline's chief executive Akbar Al Baker disclosed at the Paris air show today that he had finalised an agreement for 20 737 Max 8s first announced last October, along with 40 options and purchase rights. "We will take three or four from June next year. The first Maxes will be delivered in small numbers will replace older A320s that are going out of service from our mainline fleet."

Interestingly they appear to be for QR itself, and not any of their subsidiaries/affiliates like speculated. Guess we know whats replacing the A320s now that QR wants to switch the order to A321s.

Wow! Didn't really expect this to happen, I thought it just AAB talking loosely. Also, surprised that MAXs will replace mainline A320s. I think someone mentioned on this forum that if the MAXs are finalized, they will be leased out to other carriers.

While Boeing's Board has granted Authority to Offer on the MAX-10, I am not sure they have actually approved the program (which will be a formality, now). So Boeing may only be able to do MoUs for the MAX-10 at the moment.

And that we're seeing so many -8s going to -10s makes me think that capacity more than performance was hobbling the -9's sales, with potential -9 customers going to the larger A321. Now that they have something similar in size for the MAX family, they are committing to it (though clearly not in the numbers of the A321, but then the A321 has had a large Time to Market advantage to secure orders). And I expect Boeing is seeing a nice margin boost from those conversions, as well, as they certainly won't be offering them similar pricing.
