so after all I guess that Icelandair didn't convert the -300 order to one for the -200. Finally I'm 100% sure about this!

I guess that as always LHR will get them. It's always Londow that gets the new birds and even with the A380 it won't be different...

It will be used on routes to LHR, and some high capacity US routes, and will probably make several visits to Copenhagen. After all, Icelandair operates something like 3 daily flights to CPH, sometimes 4 in the summer, compared to 2 daily to LHR.

I wonder if they will use it in the US like MSP. Are they going to anymore new places in the US?

My guess is that it's mainly going to be used to JFK and Florida, but it may be switched around if necesary. It will also go to Europe - probably mostly LHR and CPH. Icelandair's route structure allows a high utilization of the aircrafts .. USA during the night and Europe during the day with all routes crossing morning and afternoon at Keflavik.

Great News for Icelandair.
I had a gret trip w them. I hope I will be able to visit Iceland again some time.
The 753 will allow them to increase their profitability- more capacity w almost same costs.

Yes, I think she is a very beautiful aeroplane too. Out of curiousity what is the flight time from Keflavik to CPH? Thanks, StL, Tom.

KEF - CPH is 3 hours on 752, and 3 hours and 10 minutes on 734.

Last night around midnight I sent the picture as an e-postcard to an Icelandic friend. He was reading his newspaper while it dropped into his mailbox.

He forwarded the e-postcard to the newspaper. And this morning the picture was in the Icelandic newspaper - in color!

My friend called me to tell that. I told him, "oh boy who is going to pay the copyright violation fines?" But he told me that he had talked to the newspaper man on the phone, and everything was in good order.

That's right - they contacted me for permission and I'm getting a compensation. Good to deal with people like that!

Hi LN-MOW, glad to hear that it worked.

I get a copy of the Icelandic newspaper by snail mail - carried on another beautiful Icelandair 757. I will forward it to you.

TF-FIX, Icelandair's first B757-300 will be delivered on March 19th. The aircraft will mostly be used for the CPH flights, according to Icelandair's CEO, Sigurður Helgason.

This summer, Icelandair will have a total of eleven 757's in use (7x752 and 1x753 for scheduled passenger flights, 2x752 for charter flights and 1x752F for cargo flights). Their last 737-400 is gone (or is going) so the fleet will be an all 757 fleet.

BTW, LN-MOW, what paper got your permission to publish your picture?

Icelandair has 2 753's on order (as mentioned), and 8 757 options that could be either 752's or 753's.

You would think they would keep the 734 for route development?

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

They will be able to reduce training costs dramatically by having an all 757 fleet instead of a mixed 757/737 fleet. They will probably also save on spare parts (no need to keep 737 stuff around)
