Is it positioning or operating QF71 as that is scheduled for 1040am departure instead of the usual 1150am departure

Appears -VYG was originally scheduled to operate QF71 PER-SIN & now positioning direct to XSP. The departure time for the QF0071 was brought forward due to XSP curfew.

Nothing has been confirmed yet though I would expect they will try and get all the 747ER's done by the end of next year before the remaining 4 non 747ER's are retired. A380's will likely also begin once they have more flexibility in the fleet so they will start probably around Q2 next year

I'm curious where they'll have A380 repainted as I'm not MNL hangar is setup.

Wont they send it to SIN. They also sent one A388 to AUH for maintenance a few months ago

SIN makes sense I was also thinking XMN since they painted the B744 fleet.

Nope! This is an amazing livery and will look well on everything in the fleet ;)

The F100 looks especially smart in it!

Will the Qantas Freight fleet be repainted? If not, is there any idea if and when the last 767 and 737-300 freighters will be replaced?

observation: 738 VH-VYG has positioned XSP-SIN (safely assume now NEW centenary roo) . old roo VH-VYH is scheduled as QF71 PER-SIN. Laying bets for a 'switch-a-roo' in SIN and NEW roo VH-VYG doing QF72 SIN-PER, VH-VYH old roo off to XSP paint shop :)

Correct VH-VYG operated QF72 last night, so VH-VYH has gone in for painting

I wonder/hope with airbus doing the 380 reconfigure if there is a chance some of the 380 plus changes will be available as a retrofit by the time the mods start. QF roo on 380 workers would look phenomenal- not to mention be handy for the long haul routes, especially DFW and LAX!

Airbus have held the line so far that the A380plus modifications will not be offered as a retrofit on existing aircraft.

There's a whisper on a respectable pilots forum that -OJS/T and U will stay around till at least 2020.

With the amount of $$$ that was spent on reconfiguring their cabins a number of years back, it makes sense to keep them especially as QF seems to be in a 'growing' phase and fuel prices are relatively low.

Any word on EBG/EBL reconfigs? Ive heard rumours of new subfleet of 6 of the newer A332s that would have additional crew work areas and likely another lav in J

That would make sense, once OEB is gone the product will be a lot more standardised. They must be looking forward to that. But where would they deploy them? HKG? SFO,YVR,NRT?

When are the 74ER due to be retired? Do they have one more cabin refit left in them?

I did also read on here, QF aren't permitted to have doors to create suites on their aircraft as CASA doesn't permit this - has anyone else heard this? Where would a source document be?

I have heard anecdotal feedback from crew the ratio of pax to toilets in business on the aircraft has been an issue. Doesn't appear it was factored into the 789 layout though.

That makes sense IMO for the reasons you stated. Do these 3 need the fuel tank mods still by end of 2018? Or have they been done. They are turning 18 around now, most of the QF 747's lasted 22-23 years plus minus a year or 2.

As to routes probably all ex SYD? With maybe seasonal MEL-HKG? SYD-HND/JNB/SCL/SFO, those would be the 4 I would have guessed once only the 6 744ER's remain then you have HKG/seasonal YVR maybe the odd SIN.

As to the ER's I think the plan was originally next D checks in 2020/21 when they are 18 but I've also heard 2025, which would only be 2-3 years off another D check.

As to another refit I was wondering the same thing but it would probably be after the A380 so 2021 which could co inside with the next D checks so maybe worth it if they were to stay till at least 2025?

I wonder/hope with airbus doing the 380 reconfigure if there is a chance some of the 380 plus changes will be available as a retrofit by the time the mods start. QF roo on 380 workers would look phenomenal- not to mention be handy for the long haul routes, especially DFW and LAX!

Airbus have held the line so far that the A380plus modifications will not be offered as a retrofit on existing aircraft.

V/F

Maybe I misunderstand you but the A380plus modifications can be grouped into two sections:
1.) cabin modifications (stairs, seats etc.) - initially presented during a fair for cabin outfitting before the last PAS
2.) winglets and modified wing twist

Re 2.: true, Airbus said that they will not offer it as a retrofit
Re 1.: of course these modifications can be integrated when the cabin gets an upgrade anyhow. It was reported that Airbus talked to several existing A380-operators, I think AF was mentioned. Some people here even said the proposed cabin modifications, which were initially presented on a fair for cabin outfitting and became later part of what Airbus now calls -plus, is more for existing operators/airframes

As I said, maybe I misunderstood...

If I remember correctly, the 787 is going te be used on the MEL - LAX route. Is this going to replace the A380 service or is this an additional flight?
