AA flight returns to DFW when drunk woman slaps FA, hits cockpit door

Mon Jul 17, 2017 3:06 pm

People are just getting out of control. It's hard to believe they can find enough time between texts to behave like this.

As they now say - "doing a dao"

How is this in anyway related to the Dr Dao situation?

If you cause a gate or air return due to your illegal behavior, that should be automatic no-fly list (for at least 5 years). That is of course in addition to whatever other punishment their behavior warrants.

Struggling to see the similarities. Can you elaborate?
Tiny, unreadable text leaves ample room for interpretation.

sorry, probably a generational thing or maybe just Chicago local.

"doin' a dao" doing something with the intent of getting attention and getting somekind of reward or notoriety, typically with social media.

Some people should not drink alcohol.

It is time to impose severe penalties for people who assault crew members. This is ridiculous. Put them on a national no fly list and give them prison time.

I think he meant the FA was "doing a dao".

It's bad enough being on an 8:43pm flight, scheduled into Moline at 9:55pm. Now add some damn drunk who assaults a crew member, and causes everyone else to now arrive Moline at 12:31 after midnight. I certainly hope she is charged with more than just public intoxication. Anyone who assaults a crew member should be banned from air travel...period. There is no excuse for this.

Just ban a person that does this. Ban them. Share the information with other airlines as an option, and you watch how quick this s*** will stop. There will be virtually NO financial impact. Ban them. Who really cares?

Count me among those struggling to find a connection to Dr. Dao.

For what it's worth, I googled the phrase "Doing a Dao" for any hits in the last three months, and the only relevant result was a link to this very thread.
The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word.
There is no 787-800, nor 787-900 or 747-800. It's 787-8, 787-9, and 747-8.
A321neoLR is also unnecessary. It's simply A321LR.
Airplanes don't have isles, they have aisles.

The problem is we are becoming a much less civil society. There used to be problem people like this but they were a lot more rare.
Sounds like this person should never have been allowed to board.

Less civil society crammed more tightly onto airplanes with less seat pitch...

I'd be willing to bet that people have always been like this, but nowadays it's far easier to hear about them due to the prevalence of the internet and social media.

Dao's fifteen minutes of fame expired months ago. If you did a name recognition survey now, 99.999% of the public would have no idea who he is. The remaining 0.001% post about him regularly on this board.

I would love to see (and fully support) Dr Dao filing slander or libel charges against anyone who attributes his actions toward the negative. I don't go for much of the US (and now unfortunately pretty much everywhere) litigation culture, but here it is justified.

Surely the FA and LEO are given powers to be used appropriately.

Perhaps some on here need to recall WHY he was ordered off the plane.

Dr Dao was not drunk and did not assault anyone.

This situation is entirely diffferent.

Still does not excuse the behavior.

Quite true, his preferences are Vicodin and meeting up with his male office manager at the local Red Carpet Inn, far more civil.

He was doing that on the plane :o

No wonder they had to batter him to get him off the aircraft.. He should be grateful they didn't put half a dozen bullets in him...

Reading that I can see exactly how they could justify their treatment of him.. Yes sir.

Idiots like this need to be permanently banned for a period of time from all domestic airlines, period. Attacking someone drunkenly is ridiculous. I hope the airline and the flight attendant insist upon the severest possible charges and penalties if she is found guilty.
