Air Holland And The B767-300?

Thu Feb 21, 2002 5:13 pm

Yesterday I received an inquiry of a plane model manufacturer to supply Air Holland artwork for the Boeing 767-300. Who has more news about a B767-300 for Air Holland? Air Holland has just only 2 B757-200's, 1 was grounded recently due to financial problems. Strange story...or not?

They hope to pick up Preussag business in the Netherlands and plan to add a Boeing 737-800 and a 767-300 for this summer (but they have had many plans in the past). Wasn't it last year when they announced plans to add a DC10-30 and later a 767-200 for long-hauls as well ? We shall see.

Vfw614, yes that was untill Van der Valk tours decided to buy their seats from ALM (their passengers didn't like the stop at the Azores). The DC-10-30 idea couldn't go ahead to to the fact that Amsterdam Airport wouldn't allow any new DC10 flights as of April 1st 2001 (thus making this plan impossible).

Looking at the new schedule of Dutch Carribean Express I think that Air Holland can wave goodbye to flying to the Dutch Carribean. Moreover, Thomas Cook intends to use Dutchbird to some Carribean destinations (I think they'll sooner use a B767 than Air Holand). Finally, why wouldn't Preussag use Air Holland? Martinair and Tranaavia are indirectly linked to Preussag (via KLM and TUI Netherlands).

BTW Air Orange, Air Holland has only 1 B757 left. One aircraft has been ferried to the US for storage I presume

Could someone tell me about Dutch Carribean Express? I've never heard of them!

Thanks!

Dutch Carribean Express (DCE) is formed out of the defunct airline ALM (as far as I know). They fly between Amsterdam and Curacao with a wet leased Sobelair B767-300ER.

The airline has been set up to compete with KLM on the AMS-CUR route and is used by many touroperators.

Thanks for all your clear answers. Quite intresting. If Air Holland perhaps is going to join Preussag will it than fly with the blue/red TUI-group/Britannia/HapagLloyd livery? That would be pitty for the latest housestyle I designed for Air Holland....

By the way that DC-10 of Brussels-Antigua based Skyjet was stored for a while at Maastricht Aachen Airport due to a financial problem. Not soo many days ago the DC-10 took off from MAA to, to me, an unclear destination.

. If Air Holland perhaps is going to join Preussag...

Picking up some business - I meant that they hope to sell some capacity to Preussag, not become owned by Preussag.

Hmm.....don't know if that's good news...
As we all know it's very un-economic to fly with 3 different types.
The 73G is perhaps the current PH-XRA from Transavia, since they recieve 2 or 3 new 738's this spring...

B.t.w Norbert, did the HLN direction already decide wich c/s they will choose?? I mean the white or the "yellow" version??

Kind Regards,
Niels Nitrauw.

Yes, Air holland has decided the final livery. I have to come to their office coming Friday for confirmation. The logo, tailfin design, orange tufted engine cowls and nose cone have been already confirmed. Paintjobs have to be finalized before end of March 2002.
