Boeing 797 Discussion Thread Pt.1

Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:23 pm

So this is a little discussion thread about the theorized Boeing 797, set to replace the 757 as no current, modern aircraft fits that market.

Before posting please do you research. This is also a good video regarding it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql0Op1VcELw).

I thought the 797 was going to replace the shorter range 767s?

All the reports have been "7 across fuselage" after all. The longer range 767s are replaced by the 787-8.

Couldn't Boeing replace the 757 perhaps when it makes the NSA? One model of the NSA being larger and more powerful?

How can we "do our research" when there is as yet no such plane?

I looked at the video right up to 1.05 when it said that cancelling the 757 was a decision Boeing has regretted ever since, at that point I decided that the whole thing was a fantasy production and not worth watching any further.

I am 100% convinced that the cancellation of the 757 programme was the correct decision, I'm further convinced that Boeing senior management have never regretted it, they've certainly never made any announcement that has even hinted of even 1 degree of regret.

As stated weekly on A net, 99% of 757 flying is either already covered by other airframes or shortly will be at greatly reduced cost. This is the economic fact. meanwhile let the fantasy continue.

Moderators: please lock this thread (and tell me how to request you in a more effective manner, which I cannot find any more)

There is no aircraft in existance or even authorised on paper with this name, so discussing such a thing is entirely pointless (like all the earlier threads)

We could just change the Pt.1 to Pt.212 for clarity... not that there's any reason to close threads these days.

Good video for the basics. Since this is being shown to airlines I think it is worth discussing. If you do not want to discuss or view, then ignore the thread.
