MSP To Bismarck On Saab 340

Sat Feb 23, 2002 2:59 am

Taking the trip next Tuesday, looks to be an almost 2 hour ride, any suggestions as to the most comfortable seat? To me this is going to seem like a long haul.....

Thanks in advance,
J

Well assuming that I don't get a confirmed upgrade to Flight Deck, what would be considered best "runner-up".....

I flew that route a few years back. I would suggest one of the seats on the left side of the aircraft (any of the 'A' seats) sice seating is 1 x 2 if I remember correctly. Try to sit ahead of the wings to reduce engine noise although it isn't really that bad anyway. I guess that would put you in about seats 1A, 2A, 3A, or maybe 4A. My impression of the flight was very good. It didn't seem all that long and with leather seats it was quite comfortable, even for a big guy like myself (6'1", 250lbs). Of course it also helps to kill some layover time in the bar at MSP!!!

I've flown them several times and I would agree, the A seats are the best but only if the flight is full. If the flight is not full, you can stretch out on the right side of the a/c with two seats. Having some liquid refreshments before the flight is always a good option as well!

Thanks for the response. Sounds good as I am comparable in size to yourself. Right now I am in 6A so I'll get that changed, thank goodness I have first in a DC-9 coming back. As you have been there before, what should I do with my free time while there?

I worked on the Saab for a few months and I always thought the seats behind the exit (maybe row 7 and back) had more legroom.

Actually, 6A is a good seat, its the exit row, slightly more legroom. The legroom isn't that bad on a Saab, I've been on 737's that have been more cramped.

Any A except 1A, 2A, or 11A are the best seats in the house. The A is the single side, get a window & an aisle.

1A is bad because its the first row at the door, you'll be getting rather friendly with the F/A on takeoff & landing as the jumpseat is directly facing you...(you never know you may like that kind of thing) Actually, this is usually the last seat to be filled, only used if the a/c is 100% full.
2A is no good since there is no window
11A is bad since it is the last row on the aircraft and there are four seats across the back.

My best pick is 3A

I really like 1 C or D window or aisle in the first row...lots of room up there...that or 6A. ENJOY!!!

Now more than ever, FLY THE RED TAILS!!!

Its not that bad of a flight. I have flown on that route many times. The seats are alright but I would suggest getting on an exit row so you have a little more leg room.
