I have taken the 777 from SFO-KOA(Kona) on
United Airlines and it did not have PTVs in coach. I'm not sure though about the 777 to HNL.

The 2 class UA 777's (which are relegated to the Hawaiian routes) are not fitted with economy class PTV's.

United Airlines operated the domestic two-class Boeing 777 on the Hawaiian flights. This plane features a standard United domestic product in terms of seats and inflight amenities. As will all mainline domestic planes (non-Shuttle) this plane will feature Economy Plus. On the 777 domestic, there are no PTVs for the economy passengers. Movies are shown on ceeling mounted video screens like that on all other two class airplanes (except 737s).

Flights that recieve these 777s are the Hawaiin runs and some hub to hub flights.

I believe that all N2** reg planes are domestics without PTV's,while all N7** reg planes are in'tl birds. But are also used domestically (and have PTV's)

Not quite buddy. There are several N2XXUA planes with PTVs and that are in a three class config. You have to break it down by nose number. The 25XX series are the domestic birds, while the 23XX, 26XX, 27XX, 28XX birds are the international birds.

I believe that all of UAL's 777-200A's (non -ER's) have 2 classes, and serve domestic routes including Hawaii. The -ER's have PTV's, and fly the intl. routes, and maybe some domestic runs for aircraft positioning purposes.

I have flown on N780UA and N218UA and they both had PTVs. N780UA had the grey/orange/red/blue seats while N218UA had the experimental Blue seats.

I've been on 774,823 and 788 all domestically and they all had PTV's.

A large chunk of United's 777s are non-ERs. N766UA through N780UA are non-ER with three classes of service. You will find these crawiling around on domestic routes as well as east coast-Europe flights.

The 777-200ER birds (27XX and the 28XX series) fly mainly from the west coast United States to Europe as well as to Asia. The 28XX series runs routes such as ORD-PEK, JFK-NRT, and so on.

Only 5 or 6 planes are in the two class config. I believe that they are 2510, 2511, 2512, 2513, and 2515. I think that there is one or two more. I'll try to find out.

Speaking of which, has there been talk of modifying a few UA 772's so they have crew rests to allow for ORD-HNL and JFK-HNL non-stop flights?

The crew rest problem is the only impediment to United restarting ORD-HNL. They want to restart the route indeed, but there is no suitable plane given their pilot contract.

As for JFK-HNL, I doubt that will happen, as JFK isn't a United hub, but I think an IAD-HNL flight would be a money maker. Continental has New York-HNL already (from EWR), UA might as well take Washington.

I'd have to disagree with the idea of IAD-HNL being a money maker. I think that it would be exactly the opposite. First things first, people use miles or buy dirt cheap fares to Hawaii. Second thing, there is a very limited market to Hawaii from the east coast with out the desired feed. Continental can do it as they have more feed from the east into EWR.

Having a DEN-HNL flight for east coast passengers to connect to makes the most sence as you a) have more O&D traffic, and b) have more feed from the north, the east and the south

David, there are 6 25XX... the one you missed is 2515.
