Amount of damage in case of VIM-Avia bankruptcy exceeded $81.9m
The damage from actions of VIM-Avia management and owners exceeded 4.7 billion rubles ($81.9m). At the same time, according to Kommersant, more than half of the airline's property for a total of 2.2 billion rubles ($38.3m) is pledged to creditors. The total amount of damage includes arrears to lessors, banks, and a dozen travel companies that have not been refunded for unused charter flights.
Note that earlier Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko stated that the total payable accounts of VIM-Avia amounted to about 10 billion rubles ($174m). Of these, 7 billion rubles are payable accounts to credit organizations, lessors, airports, fuel-filling complexes. According to him, the management of the airline regulated the situation with arrears by obtaining short-term loans from various lending institutions. "But then banks stopped lending to the organization," Neradko said.
The criminal case of Deliberate Bankruptcy (Article 196 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated by the Privolzhsky Investigation Department on Transport of the ICR in Nizhny Novgorod. It was based on the verification carried out by the Privolzhsky Transport Prosecutor's Office air carrier registered in Tatarstan. The company's management is accused of deliberately unfavorable deals, which entailed "huge financial costs" and led to bankruptcy of the company. In addition, according to the investigation, the leaders of VIM-Avia took assets abroad in favor of "affiliated organizations."
