WOW Air A 321 stored in LJU?

Wed Nov 08, 2017 9:49 am

On 3. Oct. the WOW Air Airbus A 321 TF-GMA („Grandma“) was flown to LJU and since that time it is listed as „on ground“ there. Anyboby know why this plane is so long in Ljubljana? WOW Air often sent their planes to LJU for maintenance, but mostly they returned aftermax 10 days to Iceland. TF-GMA is an only 1,5 years old frame - so I wonder whether it needs an over 6 week long maintenance or whether is it stored there. But that would be contrary to the expansion planes of Skuli Mogensen, the owner of WOW Air. Anyone has more infos?
Thx in advance

Seems like either no one here knows, or those in the know do not want to answer. There have been rumors in Iceland of a potential return of some aircraft but nothing that has surfaced in "print". TF-GMA is owned by ALC.

According to CH Aviation, it's at Ljubljana for maintenance:

Thanks for your answers. But honestly - (why) does such a young frame (1.5 years old) need this long maintenance? Even today „grandma“ is still listed „on ground“ in LJU

Could be endless reasons. It’s pretty stupid to jump to a conclusion without knowing anything. Just shows bias.

It’s not being stored. It’s not maintenance either. It’s being modified. Winter is the time to do something like that as there’s slack in the system.

Maybe they are installing their own cabin product into the rest of their fleet. As of now only the new delivered frames such as -PRO, -NOW, -WIN & the Neos have the pink WOW cabin & seats, as they were ordered directly by WOW Air. -GMA for example was delivered with the LAN Airlines seats and looks completely different inside.

It's an Airbus, not a 737.

Yesterday WOW Air got their „grandma“ , the Airbus A 321 TF-GMA back after more then 4 months of reconstruction in Ljubljana. The aircraft was transferred as flight WW 321 LJU-KEF yesterday. I wonder which routes GMA is now able to fly with its additional tanks

TATL.....I'm sure I read on another thread here that GMA is / was the only 321 not able/certified for TATL service without the work carried out at LJU.

Lol maybe....the owner of WOW Air has a lot of fantasies...but how to read in an other thread the aircraft hot additional tanks installed to empower it for TATL flights- but why that toke so Long? Maybe they work slowier for ULCC ;-)
