Wed Feb 27, 2002 1:59 am

Does AC utilize the CRJ on domestic flights, or all they all transborder?

Thanks for your help, OzarkD9S

Most flights are transborder, but there are a few domestic flights:

Toronto-Moncton (a few flights a week)
Toronto-Charlottetown (daily)
Winnipeg-Thunder Bay (twice daily)
Toronto-Québec City (selected weekend flights)
Toronto-Thunder Bay (selected weekend flights)
Toronto-Montreal and v.v (once daily)

There could be a few more, but that's about it.
Next flights: YQM-CUN-YQM / YQM-YUL-FRA-LYS-YUL-YQM / YQM-YYZ-YVR-YYZ-YHZ-YQM

Are these CRJ's a long term aircraft for AC?

Now that loads are smaller, and if WJ comes to YYZ and who know if they will fly YOW and YUL from YYZ then AC my replace some of the bigger aircraft with the smaller CRJ's??

Are these things nice?

They use it on Toronto-Ottawa a couple of times each weekend as well. YYZ-YYG is upgraded to a 737 starting in April for the summer sched.

It will be interesting to see where the 6 new Air Canada Regional RJs will go. My guess is that they will replace F28 routes out west.

You'll only ever see CRJs on Rapidair either on weekdays during off peak times of the day or on the weekend. 762s/763s and 333s (to YUL) will always be needed at peak times of the day regardless of WJ.

The F28s are not used much any more in the east. As far as I know only from YYZ to YFC & YSJ and for DND flights. Out west they're used more, but all on domestic routes.

Rumours have it the 6 new CRJ are all going to YYZ. The BAe 146's are being brought back and 4 will be based in YHZ and 6 in the West. They will replace F28's, at least out here in the West.

Not sure how many CRJ's we'll see out here as they are not suitable at most airports in BC.

So Luicon, in other words the 146s are pretty much just being re-instated back to the way they were.

I wonder if that means the new CRJs will replace DH8s on some of the intra-Ontario flights to places like YSB, YTS, YQG, etc. and to YFC and YSJ?

Does any one know when the 6 new CRJ's will arrive? Are they new or are they being leased second hand? Also, will they be operated by AC Mainline or by AC Regional. If by Regional, will they be operated by Air Ontario, Air Nova, Air BC or Canadian Regional?

Thanks in advance,

I think Lubicon is right, as there's a BAE-146 parked at YYC now. That was like a week ago, so maby more now.

The BAE-146's are already in operation for I saw two operating at YYC last weekend. As for the cRJ's replacing F28's, not only would this be a drastic decrease in capacity, but according to AC Regional's website, they still operate 12 F28's and 6 CRJ's wouldn't be able to takeover their role. Besides, the F28's are still doing well, and a CRJ wouldn't be able to carry 60 passengers like on my YYC-YXX flight.

anywho

They will be operated by ACR, not mainline. Just a small point as well, technically there is no more CDN Regional, Air Nova, Air Ontario etc. It is all ACR.

I can't remember which routes the 146's will be flying, but YQR-YVR , YXE-YVR come to mind as well as some transborder work (Note YEG-DEN will not return as United Express is starting that one up). As for the CRJ's in Ontario, I don't have a clue which cities they will serve.
