LY106 Problems At YYZ Today

Wed Feb 27, 2002 7:10 pm

Here it goes:

LY106, a Boeing 767-200ER that was on its way from LAX to TLV via YYZ got stucked in YYZ last night because of a mechanical. The flight will probably have a 13 hours delay.

This is causing more problems as the aircraft that was due to land at 16:55 in TLV, was scheduled to operate LY105 that departure tonight at 24:30 to LAX via YYZ.

LY deployed other 767 for tonight's departure, BUT, the replacment 767 is not capable of flying TLV-YYZ nonstop (lower MTOW) so the flight would stop at AMS on its way to YYZ and LAX... making it 21:15 hours to LAX...  Nuts

Anyone from YYZ area with more details about the stucked airliner???!!

I forgot to mention:

Tonight's LY105 will take off at 23:00 instead of 24:30 because of the AMS additional stop.

On the way back the flight wont stop at AMS because it will be an East-bound flight and YYZ-TLV nonstop is possible.

I thought all 4 LY 762ER's had the same weight/range? So only 2 of them can fly TLV-YYZ nonstop?

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

4X-EAD and 4X-EAC (767-258ER) have JT9D-7R4D engines, vs. the PW4060A powered EAE and EAF (767-27EER). EAA and EAB are non-ER (767-258) and powered by JT9D's.

So which 2 can do TLV-YYZ nstop? E/F or C/D?

E/F I guess? Newer engines ~ better fuel efficiency?

Yeah, pretty sure that's the way it is (E/F).
