Austrian Adds Addt'l B777 to Fleet OE-LPF

Sun Jan 14, 2018 7:10 am

Not sure if it's been discussed anywhere else, but OS has added an additional B777 to its fleet, ex-AeroMexico N776AM. It's currently on the ground in Phoenix (positioned up from MZJ today), scheduled to position again to Hong Kong in about one hour.

What is OS' fleet plan? Are they adding any additional B777 frames?

Really? Nonstop from PHX - HKG--I wish this was a regular service :)

So if no work was done on it in Goodyear, presumably, HAECO will service the aircraft before entering service with Austrian.
Keep on truckin'...

Flight number is OS1471, why are they positioning it at HKG additional work on the plane? I know OS does VIE-HKG but this seems complicated.

Congrats to OS - I always enjoy flying them and as much as I'd like to see them upgauge ORD, I appreciate the 2-3-2 of their 767 much more so these days!

Topic was well-discussed a few months ago: seems like anyone's guess today. I'd like to see the 767 stick around as long as possible, and add the A330neo.

They could position it to HKG and start the regular flights from there whereas the regular VIE-HKG goes to HAECO for longtime checks after completing the flight.

It is still in Aeromexico livery. My guess is cabin refurb @ Haeco and then a fresh coat of paint before going to VIE.

Was this 777 delivered new to Aero Mex or one of the Varig 777 then leased to Aero Mex ? What will Austrian fly next ? 787-9 or A350-900 ?

While Lufthansa has A350-900 its subsidiary airlines have many A330-300, 767 and 777-200ER, so what is the fleet plan going to be ? Will LH place a huge order for say 50 panes for all their airlines. It will interesting to see ?

It's an ex-Varig plane, PP-VRB; 16 years old now.

It arrived in Hong Kong this morning, basic Aeromexico scheme with titles and most of the tail logo removed.
737-300/400/500 ... are NOT classics :)

It might be 2-3-2 but the overall experience is not great. Seat pitch is 30' while the width is 17'.
